People have said this about every generation since the dawn of time.

Do you know why cursive was developed? It was so secretaries didn’t have to pick up their quill/pen/whatever and could write faster.

Anyone doing much long hand writing for their corporate masters any more?

Remember somewhere at sometime, people were calling the WWI generation soft and then they went into the trenches and that wasn’t the case. Folks figured the “greatest generation “ was soft and then they fought an era defining war.

    Only thing constant is change.

Apologies for the rant, but the whole generation debate that the internet has popularized is just so dumb. It’s not new. It’s in the earliest newspapers. You can find it carved on clay tablets. Probably painted on cave walls.

This is kind of what I meant by "they don't give a ****".

I'm sure they guys who get sub-10 or whatever mostly didn't take time to "train" for it.

Probably because they (correctly IMO) believe that it doesn't matter (i.e., there's little to no correlation between scores and success in the NFL).

Better to take that time and spend it on training for something that's going to impact their draft stock (like the body comp changes you're talking about or how to game things that teams care about like 40 times, or vertical jumps or whatever)

My parents also called us lazy
Guess I am just like my parents and their parents
    Only thing that stays constant
    Is change

    I think that makes sense.

But I don't think it really correlates to football (I think it's more about logic / math).

I think it would be better to get them in a vr helmet and have them see plays at NFL speed to see when they ID when a WR is about to get open and get them the ball when they do (instead of waiting until they are open before throwing).

That's the processing speed that teams should want IMO.

    Yeah.

I sound more and more like my old man everyday.

Thinking about shaking my fist at clouds next. Maybe ranting about the evils of big data.

Pickett signed a one-year contract with Carolina today.

That makes him the 1st quarterback In NFL history, that was drafted in the first round, to play for 5 different teams in his first 5 years... And got a super bowl ring out of it

There are several systemic issues affecting many young athletes today. Specifically, a significant number of students in struggling school districts—often rated C, D, or F—are falling behind in core subjects like reading and math. This is compounded by a lack of parental guidance, cultural factors, and an increasing prevalence of mental health challenges among the youth. Pro football is made up of say roughly 70% of children who grew up this way.

Furthermore, football is facing a significant hurdle in attracting high-achieving students. While often categorized as a contact sport, it is more accurately described as a collision sport. Many parents remain concerned about the risks of CTE at the high school level, even though research suggests the most significant damage typically occurs later at the professional level. This is killing the middle class and above football kids.

Now one can field a team made up for MIT and Harvard athletes. They will score high on the wonderlic but they will also lack the ability to score points in football at the college level against top to 50 rated teams and above. So ....

We all knew at the time it was a relatively weak QB class. So far Malik Willis is the top out of the class

Don't even get me started on GenZ!!!

I'm thankful I'm old enough to remember life without the internet, social media and smart phones... and life with vinyl records in record stores, 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs and DVDs. MTV when it was good from 1981-85.

Yeah, I'm an old fuddy duddy GenX'er... screaming at the clouds!!!:emperor:

Are the Panthers gonna sign Bryce Young to a 2nd contract? Young is better than Pickett, but if Young can't stay healthy.... Pickett may get another chance.
