    Great post.

That's what is so frustrating. We have people running around here that claim to know that the kid can't play quarterback, and he's playing in an offensive system run by a guy that can't keep a job anywhere he goes because he sucks. The head coach allows whatever is going on and seems to have put some of the clamps on his quarterback on top of the horrible system he is playing in himself.

Tomlin is saying stupid things to the media about performances and looking like an idiot to his own team. He claimed his offensive line was excellent after the 49ers game????

The defense appears to be a hot mess at the moment. They allow the most running yards in the NFL and they can't cover anybody.

Coaches are getting schooled every week by the opposing coach's game plans.

The team let a younger, better cornerback sign somewhere else and replaced him with a 33 year old that doesn't seem to be able to cover anybody anymore. They have another cornerback that intercepted 2 passes a couple games ago because they kept throwing his way because he was getting destroyed all game by wide receivers. All the while, they have a rookie corner they drafted high, that is a great press-man cover corner. He has a very high rating whenever he is on the field...but they won't play him.

They also had a safety leave because they didn't offer to pay him any money. Now that he's gone, Minkah has to play a different role in the defense than he did before. A role he isn't anywhere near as good at as his usual deep safety role. So they let a strong safety go because they wouldn't offer him a fair contract, and now a great player like Minkah isn't effective. So they basically weakened 2 positions on the field because of one player they didn't want to pay, so that the strong safety and free safety both aren't any good.

The offensive line can't block anybody. They already changed the blocking scheme this season, because they OL could execute the zone blocking schemes. Can the players play? Can the coaches coach? Nobody seems to know. And all the while, they have a first round draft pick they moved up for that didn't play until Moore got hurt. We are told he is a powerful run blocker but a little raw. They also drafted a huge tight end that is a devastating blocker. Yet in short yardage situations they are lining up in shotgun and running play action rather than running power with the rookies that we are told are road graders in the run game. In the press conference Tomlin says he didn't run the ball in short yardage because Moore and Muth were hurt. So what did you draft the powerful, young players for?

Does any of this make any sense to anybody? Does it seem like the team is going in a good direction right now with excellent decision-making?

But yeah, the 2nd year quarterback with 16 starts will never be anything and can't play. All while not having maybe his best WR out injured and a beat up Muth all season. How does anyone claim to know that with what is going on around him?

This franchise has been fooled into thinking that consistency results in success. That's not the way it works. Consistency by itself is meaningless. There's no such thing as the Steeler way. That's a made up term that means nothing. The Patriots made lots of changes, both players and coaches, during their many SB wins.

If our RG sucks game after game, we don't continue to trot him out there just to be consistent. We replace him with someone that can do a better job. Not too sure why people feel that has to be different with coaches. It makes no sense to think that the status quo will somehow result in success. Having the best people will result in success, not necessarily the status quo.

You brought up a lot of good points, however in addition, Kenny Pickett has been sucking bad. While what you say is true, about the entire team blowing @ss, but KP sucks in addition, in unison, with the team sucking. The OL stinks but they don't give KP zero time every single play but on plays where he does have time to find an open receiver, he fails to, when there are guys wide open. Look at KP's #'s; they tell at least half the story. Even with all the team problems, he should be performing better than he is. But he isn't.

KP isn't the only thing sucking with this team, but he certainly is ONE of the things sucking, without question.

LoL. Didn't read. You know what You did, and now You are going to try and talk around it. I was having a conversation with someone else. We weren't arguing....we were talking back ,and forth (civilly), not once did I attack Him,or He attack Me, but You came in grabbed a bunch of My quotes(when nobody was even talking to You), and attacked Me. You know that's what You did. Now you are trying to dance around it. So I really don't care what you have to say.

LoL. Like I'm offended. With the way you've been replying to some people lately I don't think you're reading much of anything (theirs or yours).

You're crutching on this trope about as much as actually dancing away from your own BS. Tired tactic. Told you I think you're a pretty good guy. Told you, I don't attack you; it's your argument. Which you continue to avoid in favor of personal attacks and false accusations.

If you have a civil, productive response to a previous football related point in this thread, please post it. Spare the posturing.

He did the same thing to me in another thread. Comes in all gangbusters and ranting about proving this, explain that, don't attack me, tell the truth, and stuff like that. I mean....WTF? He thinks nobody is going to respond and everyone is intimidated by that?

I just don't get it. I didn't want to fight. I just addressed him making all those taunts and challenges. I wanted to talk football and have a conversation. I tried to defuse the situation, but he wouldn't have any of it. He shut me down and said he didn't read the rest of my post. He accused me of all kinds of stuff. Just like with you. I just think he didn't like someone calling him on his BS and getting his butt kicked in my initial post to him.

Does anyone really believe that he doesn't fully read a post that somebody posted because he was offended and then fire off 10 more posts?

These concerns were raised at the time of the draft, too. It’s a fair point. Were the players you mentioned as bad as Kenny before his one good season? Real question , I don’t feel like looking. And also they weren’t in their 5th year either.

Ben Rothlisberger and Polamalu hid a lot of Tomlin's warts. Now TJ Watt is trying his best to do the same. We haven't won a single game when TJ is out. TJ might not save them this year to get to a .500 season. Mediocrity is the standard and you will learn to like it.

If you listen to football people around Tomlin, players, ex players, coaches they say he’s very good at the X’s and O’s part of the game and you learn so much from him but damn, it sure doesn’t seem it from the outside looking in.

I’ve always felt Tomlin was a great motivator of men but the strategic part of his game is lacking. Bradshaw pointed it out and caught a lot of flak for it.

I think Rooney, if he doesn’t want to move on from Tomlin then the least he should do is make Tomlin hire a real OC and DC and let them do their thing.

We’ve had a couple of them with tomlin here. Art chased one of them out of town. Ben probably played a roll in chasing the other out of town. Although, an argument could be made the latter was a mediocre oc.

Arians got run out because Art wanted to protect Ben.

Ben in turn ran Haley out and then ironically as he got older he embraced the style of play that Haley taught him.

Regardless of any of that, they need real coordinators.

Actually, I think Heyward was open on that play, but Pickett bailed on the pocket and ran into a sack.

After watching the play again I will agree with that but it still does not justify the play call. I could see a seasoned vet running and having great success but with a QB with just a year under his belt and the rest of the team struggling there is no way you put him in that situation. 4th and 1 run it up the gut with a leading full back or even QB sneak it in while using a hard count trying to get them to jump.

Yeah, it's fine to be passionate about your team, beliefs, etc., but you can have spirited conversation over it while still remaining civil. Some just let their emotions get the better of them (I can confess), while others seem to enjoy projecting their misery onto everybody else. When somebody abandons their argument for personal attacks it's a clear marker they've run out of substance and just want to troll their way out of the room.

And continuing to respond to posts you claim you're not reading is just Order of the Sillies-type stuff.

Pickett may or may not be a decent QB but we will never know with Tomlin and Co. developing him they simply can not do it. Only solution for the Steelers to achieve greatness with Tomlin again is to get themselves a top 5 QB how that is done is anyone’s guess. If it’s me I’m tanking and trading everything for the Caleb Williams kid . Only a star QB can save the Steelers unless Rooney cleans house !!!

I personally don't believe in tanking. You should always play to win. I think it builds character and grit in players. If players know you are trying to lose, it could just lead to a lot of bad things and sets a terrible precedent. As a player, I could not even consider playing to lose. Just my opinion.

I still would take Kenny Picket over Brock Purdy in a heart beat, if Picket was playing in SF under Kyle Shanahan.

IT is funny I am watching shows blasting Bill Belichick for wasting Mac Jones's development from last year because of his OC.

"For me, this comes down to coaching," Griffin said about Jones during a segment on the ESPN "Get Up" program, per Christian Arnold of the New York Post. "In year two, Bill Belichick messed up his young quarterback. When you give him a defensive coordinator and a special teams coordinator as his offensive coordinator, and now he’s on his third offensive coordinator in three years in the NFL, that to me is the epitome of a coaching malpractice."

For me it is the same thought's on Kenny's development under Canada. He did OK last year, because Canada was spending all offseason with Mitch trying to get him ready for his first season in Pittsburgh. This offseason Canada spent all his time with Kenny, and it looks like Kenny has taken a step backwards because of Matt Canada.
