I made a post last year that Pickett’s ceiling was a backup similar to Taylor Heinicke. Now I’m not even sure he’s at Heinicke’s level.

I was never a fan of the draft pick, but this is a QB league and progress needs to be seen almost immediately. Look at Stroud, or Richardson with the Colts.

Next offseason is time to start looking for a new quarterback.

You're spot on right here. I hated the pick when we used a first round on him knowing we could have had him in the 3rd or even the 4th round. He isn't even the best QB in his draft class, which is one of the worst QB draft classes in a long time. I worry that if this injury knocks him out the rest of the season, the Steelers will see fit to give him another season before moving on. For better or worse, this franchise has a difficult time moving on.

If you want talent like that you need to draft in the top 5 or get lucky.

I way over shot this young man's skill. His arm strength is inconsistent at best. It really shows on the side line throws. How many have you seen way under thrown?

Get Canada and Tomlin away from him and he will be put in a much better situation. Right now he’s back up material and this is coming from someone who really liked the pick. 4th and 1 shotgun for the injury? What a joke this coaching staff is.

The 49ers hit the mega millions with Purdy.

Nope, he's totally exposed now, he's a solid backup at best.

Agree. It’s an incomplete grade until we see what he can do under good coaching. Joshua Dobbs played well against the Niners today. Is Joshua Dobbs better than Pickett? Most will say no. Is Dobbs being coached better than Pickett? Most will say yes

It's hard to say with this clown of an OC and a poor o-line. But yes, I think we all were worried about his ceiling not being high enough but hoped the 2nd half of the season would carry over.

I wonder how Pickett would look in SF? That's what bothers me about rushing to judgement, but my confidence level in him is down to 5 from 7. What's really worrying is he seems to have regressed in all areas, accuracy, progressions, happy feet - he looks lost to me and I think he's spooked by the lousy o-line.

So Dobbs won today??? You are comparing a Qb that's been in the league for 7 years, and has won one freaking game. In 7 years. LoL

KP has no pocket awareness and is not capable of reading defenses. I have seen no progression in his growth from last season.

I hate to say it, but I'm seeing the same. Everyone knows I hated the Canada hire, but when people are open, and the Qb is not seeing them, and not hitting them its hard for Me to blame the coaches. Believe Me I didn't expect it to be this way.

Because TL sucked and couldn't stay healthy, plus Purdy cost them nothing in draft capital.

No I’m saying Dobbs was nothing when he was with us. Under proper coaching, he’s serviceable. I’m not giving up on Pickett, but I’ve given up on Canada and his offensive scheme

Rudolph is the best QB on Steelers now and that’s not saying much. Problem goes deeper and it’s coaching. Tomlin is just an average coach and doesn’t feel the heat because he has always been protected. His assistants are horrible this year. Ultimately it’s him.

What? He got injured once. So the kept Purdy over a guy that they gave up over 3 draft picks for just because. Come on that doesn't even make sense. They wanted to look like they couldn't pick the correct Qb??? LoL They just didn't like those three first round picks, and that third round pick they gave up???

Dobbs was a pretty decent starter for Tennessee in college. He has always been known as a mobile guy that throws a very nice deep ball. His glaring weakness is poor accuracy in the close to intermediate range. But he was part of Ben's inner circle once Ben came off the field. That was his value here.

All I'm saying is yes....I hope after 7 years in the NFL a Qb can become a good backup like Dobbs is no matter who Your coach is.

No they kept Purdy over TL because he was much better. They did the responsible thing and admitted their mistake and moved on with BP.
