He has to make the team first.

A bit strange of a 'problem' having essentially 4 TE on the roster. I guess Conner Heyward is more of a FB than a TE.

I'm liking all of the players. I actually see Washington in only situational packages this year unless he balls out and replaces Gentry. Gentry and Heyward are two completely opposite players.

Washington will essentially be an extra offensive lineman but don't be surprised with some trickery in the red zone.

At least i'm hoping lol. They have versatility and a lot of potential match up problems.

Really this is an offensive Coordinators dream. I know because of course i'm an excellent offensive coordinator in Madden.

Of course Madden never likes the Steeler players. Washington will probably have a pathetic rating

For me, my comp for Darnell Washington coming out of Georgia was he is a supercharged Mercedes Lewis. Realistically speaking, Washington's athleticism is not too far off from another legendary Tight End:

Again, no one here should confuse the two but I swear there were times at Georgia he moved in a similar fashion to Gronk. People tend to forget that Gronk was far more stronger than he was quicker. Like Gronk, Darnell fell due to injury concerns; Gronk with his back surgery and Darnell with knee and leg ailments. Be that as it may, I do agree with the opinion of Darnell being used more so as a Possession Based/Red Zone target who will serve as the sixth Offensive Lineman for heavy packages as a Rookie. Pat Freiermuth, coincidentally enough, also fell due to a leg injury. Had it not been for that, he would have joined Kyle Pitts in the first round back in 2021. Now, it appears that Pat Freiermuth is the best Tight End from that class while Kyle Pitts could likely be on his way out should he not bounce back in 2023.

Overall, Pat Freiermuth is still the Steelers Number One Tight End not just now but likely moving forward. Darnell Washington will serve as an excellent number two. I do however, shall say that, if Pat Freiermuth does indeed get hurt for an extended time period along with Washington exceeding expectations?!.... That will create quite an Offseason discussion come 2024; doubly so if Najee Harris can also surge into stardom as 2024 will be whether or not the Steelers will exercise his Fifth Year Option.

    Yep.

Basically a Goal Line/Heavy Package. Philly used and abused this last season though in ways I didn't think was possible. Then again, given how much Player Safety has changed so much to benefit the Offense?!... I will not be surprised to see even teams like the Steelers use 13 Personnel sets though 12 will likely be Canada's Main Choice.

I don't expect Washington to catch a lot of passes as a rookie, I'm thinking 20 or less, but I hope Canada can get him involved in the red zone.
