You can have a great offense but it doesn't mean you will win a Super Bowl, you still need a defense.

He has been a ghost the past 2 seasons. He is on the downside. I have no issue them moving on from him.

Scheme? I believe it has something to do with it but he has slowed down. Playing 30 yards off the ball as your #1 safety is mindless. But that's Bags Tomlins archaic scheme. He lives in his fears of the overtop pass.

Fair enough. I guess given the amount or early draft capital the have put in the offense since 2020 it would make sense that the defense would age a bit more.

True and like I said in a another post,I don't think Reid would stick with Keith Butler for very long since he was so bad!

I prefer Butler over Austin with Butler the Steelers led the league in sacks for 5 consecutive years, last year they only had 40 sacks that's unacceptable Austin doesn't blitz enough.

have you paid attention to how fast qb’s are getting rid of the ball? Blitzing isn’t the cure all some make it out to be. Was it burrows getting rid of the ball in 2.1 seconds against us? You can blitz to your hearts content, but you’re not getting home. Look at what the eagles did in the Super Bowl. Absolutley dismantled the chiefs and didn’t blitz at all.

Let's not forget that despite being 36, Heyward is still top 5 at his position, if not top 3

Not because Austin is awful that it mean that Butler was a good DC...He was just awful with so many blow coverage, communication problem,it was bad with him too

I agree with you. However, the coaching at Pittsburg does not have a history of being held accountable. Should the year be a fail (1 and done or a losing season....imo), I do not believe that there will be any accountability of meaning. We will hear some stern words from MT, promises of big changes, nothing from the Rooneys and at most, a minor coach or two will move on.

On the bright side, I really do feel that Khan is doing a fantastic job. He has essentially done more than a partial rebuild that he did not have to gut the team to do. Hopefully it will pan out if we can avoid the injuries and see the players perform as expected.

It doesn't matter if you have faith or not, WR is a massive question mark.

If there is one position that the Steelers have done well at over the MT reign, it is the WR spot. We always manage to get a top receiver on the team. Whether it is development or drafting high talent, we have done very well in this area. I choose to have some faith that at the very least, that Roman Wilson will be a solid WR 2.5. He had a year of sitting behind the team watching. If he was smart, he was there for everything possible, soaking up all of the knowledge he could. That could give him a jump start. He got to see what was good and bad without having to self assess. Now, with DK on the team, he will have a new #1 to learn from. If RW has a good head on his shoulders, his year 3 may see him as a #1 talent himself. //fingers crossed!

Minkah ran a 4.3 40. I would say that was plenty fast. Wether he lost a step or not is debatable. The issue was the way they used him single high 20 yards off the ball. He was basically playing prevent defense. Kind of hard to make plays from that spot. I think the other issue is Minkah was getting frustrated in that role and as a result he was trying to play hero ball and going rogue a little bit last year to get more involved and it hurt him and the team. I personally don’t like the single high but I get it. We want to eliminate the big play but what use ws it when we couldn’t cover at the other positions. Jackson played very soft coverage and gave up alot of pays in front of him and Beani Bishop was ok but replaced by an uninvested Sutton who was constantly out of position. Our DB’s really hurt our pass rush last year and so did the lack of blitzing and Ogunjobi. All of that should be corrected this year.

I Love How some of You people make excuses like example what You wrote above.....Quick break down if our team does well it's the players, If our team does bad it's the coaches, yet if another team does bad , it's the players , ,but if they do good it's because of great coaches.....LoL, LoL, LoL.......Just read what you wrote, how can you even stand your own hypocrisy???? It's freaking hilarious.
