Watched the game again, and it really comes down to this, I think. Our offense didn't do great (turnovers started when we started pressing), but we made stupid, unnecessary penalties and the Ravens offense kept running stretches and cut backs until we countered, and when we did they countered with naked bootlegs and backside releases for passes. That is all, still not over this loss and venting.

I still think its BS that they had two SB winning coaches on the sidelines. Call me a sore loser all you want but when they have two brothers in the locker room at halftime then it becomes advantageous. Nothing will convince me otherwise.

I stand corrected but I still don't like the fact they were both on the sidelines. Jim should not have had any conversations with his brother during that game.

Why? Because he might have some critical piece of insight that would allow them to beat a team he never faced? Not like the Ravens did anything new under the sun. They ran the ball and played tough defense. Made throws when needed.

Why not? He's not an NFL coach. It's not like Tomlin couldn't have his brother on the sideline if he wanted.

Red zone problems for offense, couple of big 3rd downs against defense and penalties killed any chance of winning.

The Ravens DC called a great game they pressured Ben the whole game, The Steelers O-line took a step back Dumervil owns Gilbert. LeBeau game plan sucked Flacco had too much time to throw, the Steelers LBs can't cover when the QB rolls out giving up those big plays to the Ravens TEs.

Don't think THEY did such a good job it's that we were missing 40% of our offense. What a huge break for them! Once that happened we were desperately trying to come up w/ a solution to fill that gap and not a single left over RB could do a thing. We then became one dimensional so there goes the passing.

Then add to that Ben and the rest of the team were just a bit off AND the stripes attacked for 130 yards whilst ignoring our foe, and it's devastating!

I did not like the coaching or play of this team last night but the deck was stacked from the time that Bungle player hit Bell on the knee. That's life!

    Onto next year.

Hand the ball to your play-makers.

Would have liked to see more or some reverses or done wild cat or something other than Ben standing there.

The Ravens have a lot of injuries too, plus they also lost their starting RB this year. We didn't lose because of Bell, we lost because they were the better team

So in your estimation above, our horrible D had nothing to do with this loss?

    :hmmm:

We've had that D all year and still beat 11 teams. We did it with the help if a RB that that the opposing team had to keep tabs on.

La veon accounted for 40% of our O leading into this playoff. Take that away from any team and you're going to have trouble.

    I agree.

I can't help but think the ratbirds build their team based on what they see and who they face in Pittsburgh.

If they can account one man for each, with a better skill set, then they know they can beat any other team.

Steelers is the pinnacle, everyone tries to out do us... to the point they need to mimic and mirror what we have going on.

The Offensive Line got destroyed. DISTROYED! And why didn't Haley spread them out right away? Attack! No, let's run the ball right away with a rook and a guy we just signed 5 days earlier. The crows called his bluff. Haley called a horrible game and his game plan was a joke. Plus the Offensive line got destroyed! Ben didn't have his best outing but he was smothered ALL night.

Having Troy on the field as LeBeau snickered when asked if he was an upgrade over Will Allen, I wonder if he is snickering now? Chemistry was starting with this secondary you don't screw it up. Should also have brought the house like the crows did on almost every play.

Lot's of work to be done...

LeBeau once again got carved up - they got pressure, we got little, end of story.

As far as Haley - I think the loss of Bell really hurt his game plan and he tried to be "too smart" by trying to trick the Rats by running the ball some. He did the same thing when he was OC for Arizona against PGH in the SB - he ran the ball early and basically failed and later in the game they started hitting all the slants. I think he should have tried to do 3 step drops with more slant patterns and worked some mismatches. Seemed like the Steelers ran a lot more 5 step drops that played into the Rat's favor.
