Our Defensive Woes

So what is the problem with our defense?

I felt LeBeau was a genius with the defense he ran with the people he had. Our issue was the players got older and the personnel replacing aging players couldn't fill the gap.

Butler has stepped in and hasn't been able to deliver a defensive strategy to help our offense.

We need to look for the next Mike Tomlin like defensive coach to step in. Butler is not our guy.

 

The issue is that any edge rusher not named Bud Dupree or James Harrison flat out sucks. The athletic talent there is horrific..


Granted.. Dupree is injured... but his athletic talent is surely missed. James Harrison is truly special.. but he is not the 2008 DPOY variation anymore.



Outside of those two.. all you have are edge rushers who simply set the edge; average at that even then.

 

I am not sure I like this 2 dline look. I feel we need to really get back yo pressure up the middle. Granted Philly played a good game but this system I don't like. Even in a win we play this bend don't break system, I do not like our zone either. This isn't an over reaction to the loss today either, just not liking how we give the qb to much time so he can pick apart our zone. jmo
