I was listening to sports radio and they were discussing this topic. I don't recall each and every team they mentioned but the point was pretty clear...in the last 5 years the teams that have made the biggest splash in free agency have not faired very well. Wish I could recall the teams that they mentioned but I was too busy eating donuts and trying to catch a nap. I seem to remember Dallas and Jacksonville being mentioned. I, too, believe in the model that the Steelers are using (lucky for them I just validated what they do).

Perfect example of what you are talking about, is Denver, the moves they made yesterday, crown them champs on paper. However, they did nothing to improve the team to compete with teams like Seattle, they can't line up and punch you in the mouth, their offense isn't built like that.

seattle has a lot of guys to have to sign back. 3 out of 4 on the D-line alone. they lost a CB already. now comes the time they have to spend money too. they did last year on the cheap basically it will soon bite them too. our young guys have to keep developing and get on the field as soon as possible. arnfelts, williams', garvins, thomas', Williams',JJ's and some guys from this draft. that way we can keep moving forward, because the taylors and troys are aging quickly as are the timmons', gays, will allens, bens, cotchery's, millers,spaeths. the window is getting narrower.
