Funny thing is when some suggested for Mason to start over him, You , and many others threw a fit. You can't have it both ways. You can't have him sit, and learning, and complain that he should be starting over someone else.

I do not remember what I wrote about suggestions that the team start Rudolph over Pickett four years ago. I am curious what you are characterizing as "throwing a fit." I imagine it we would see those discussions differently if you shared a link or if I actually remembered them.

That said, I'm not questioning the decision to start Pickett. I am questioning making his first start against a vastly superior opponent and having him throw the ball over 50 times. Do you see the distinction?

Yes, I'm aware that Tomlin likes to use cute phrases like that, often to mask his own failing as a coach.

This post wasn't meant to be another Pickett bash-a-thon. Sigh, how the Steeler fan psyche has been permanently scarred by the KP saga. I fear it won't be forgotten until a new hero arrives in Steeltown.

btw, after reading the comments from former NFL QBs the few Steeler fans crying for Howard to get playing time should be rethinking things.

    Thursday

There is no developmental problem with the players listed, they are all disappointing high draft picks to be kind.

I could have told the teams that 5 out of 6 players will bust, including Mr. Pickett.

Facts! Kenny would have thrived for the Steelers. Would he had been amazing, no. But he would have been decent.

Maybe. But being stuck with mediocre for a decade seems like a long penance.
I have to agree with Blast Furnace on this. KP may have saved the Steelers from themselves.

When we didn't even draft Marino we had to argue and debate by pen pal.

Josh Allen ruined the NFL Scouting Paradigm as far as I am concerned regading the whole "traits vs intangibles" perspective. That said, credit to him for fixing his biggest flaw coming out of college; overall accuracy. However, there in lies the problem.

Just because one player can do it doesn't mean others can; doubly so others with even less experience than Josh Allen. Lance was a bust many saw coming and Anthony Richardson was nothing more than both Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen egos taking over.

Jalen Hurts is another QB who got better as a passer once he got to the NFL.

Stop , you know dang well when I wanted Rudolph to start over him, You, and many others complained. You can't want a guy to sit , and learn, and complain about him not starting over other Qbs. You have to pick one , or the other.

Not really. He is what he was in college. A great leader, and a great overall football player.
You do know he was 20th in passing yards, and 21s in passing tds. He barely beat out Russell rusty Wilson , and he played more games than Russell Wilson.

Exception to the rule though I do see your point; specifically when it comes to Steichens involvement. For that matter, Steichen should be even more ashamed at the fact of Richardson turning out the way he was due to the fact that he had only started 12 games.... 12! Had Steichen had a Vet QB take over for the whole season and have Richardson sit and learn?!

Richardson's Career Arc could have gone in a different direction.

KFP should’ve sat a couple of seasons
    Therein lies a problem
KFP would’ve been eligible for retirement
Due to playing 20yrs in college
Steelers were in a no win situation
