NFL Covid-19 hindsight

In hindsight the NFL should have tried to make a schedule with less travel. They could have made 4 pods of eight teams, played each team twice for 14 game schedule, and built in 3 weeks for make-up games.

East - Wash., Phil., NYG, NYJ, Buf., NE, Balt., Car
Central - Det, GB, Min, Chi, Cle, Cin, Pitt, Indy
South - Mia, Jax, TB, Atl, NO, Hou, Dal, TN
West, LAC, LAR, LV, Sea, SF, Den, AZ, KC

Top four teams in each division make playoffs, with cross seeding. #1 east plays #4 North; #2 West plays #3 south, etc.

Dang, I actually used my masters degree in Recreation Administration.

good idea but I think the travel risk would be minimized with private team jets and secured routes in and out of the airplane. Seems like most of the harm is done during the players' off time. Still going to clubs, charity events, etc.

 

I'm not sure what difference it makes if a team flies 500 miles or 5000 miles. Teams are flying to their destination, go direct to their hotel, go to the stadium the next day and fly home right after the game. Reducing the flight time, shouldn't matter.

 

Let's put 2020 in hind sight...cannot happen fast enough.

 

Simpler solution. Cut the season to 12 games and eliminate inter conference games. Simpler solution cut it to 10 games and play division games, and 1 series with east vs west and south vs west. The SB might be moved ahead to new years but so what, everything is fluid this year and likely nothing else is getting played then anyway. This morning more cases and new teams affected. The league did an extremely stupid job of planning and it's coming back at them.

This postponement of games isn’t fair to the Players and really the product that the NFL is giving us.

Tuesday games?
When is the the last time one of these top level athletes ever played on a Tuesday?

Right now a few teams that are Playoff worthy are getting screwed hard with scheduling.

I agree, but you better get used to it, because I would imagine more is coming down the pike. You have to remember the NFL priorities: 1. Money; 2. Money; 3. Money; 4. Money; 5. Money; 6. Brand; 7. Political Correctness; 8. Money; 9. Players; 10. Fans; six through eight are interchangeable at any time.
