BFT - OK. Thx. I'm in very highly visible customer support and know that those people can take quite a beating for others ineptitude.

Yeah I've had people tell me that basically they get yelled at all day for things they didn't do. Also I would love to know what it's like to work for an airline. That is something I would LOVE to have done. We're big time Disneyworld fans and go there at least a couple of times a year and we fly and of course that's really expensive these days. So I thought about trying to get a job with an airline so we could fly there for free but it seems REALLY hard to get on with an airline here in Knoxville. Delta is the main airline around here and it is almost impossible to get a job working for them. Did you get to fly to a lot of places for free? It is one of my dreams in life to learn to fly an airplane actually.

BFT - Lets just say I traveled quite a bit for next to nothing. Getting bumped wasn't very fun sometimes but you got to take the good with the bad.

This was a fun experience. Buddy called me up at 7AM on a Sunday morning and said what are you doing . I told him I'm frickin sleeping. He says wake up. I said why and he said cause the Steelers are playing. I said I know. They come on at 1 PM. He says well then hurry up and meet me at the airport. I got dressed really quick and off to Detroit we went. Hopped on a plane and then rented a car to the Silverdome in which the Steelers ended up beating the Lions 41-17.

Man that's awesome dude. When you got on there did you just have to know somebody or did you go through like a temp agency? Also do they sorta outsource their workers now? I mean do they use people to load the planes that work not for Delta but for some independent company?

I haven't been with the airlines for about 12 yrs now. The Flight bennies aren't what they used to be but they are still good. I just applied but it was the specific degree that I got in order to gain employment.
It can be a cut throat industry though. Been laid off again and again and again and again and it wasn't once due to performance.

Hm I thought it was union? Do they not protect people from crap like that? I would just like to work there part time to get the benefit of free flight. Seems like it is easier to get on there in bigger cities.

Nope. The companies I worked for were too stupid to get the necessary evil Unions. It's too bad cause I would have gladly paid those corrupt fools in order to be flying throughout my retirement.
