I don't think is an andy reid. Andy much more talented, as a HC, IMO......

If he does leave us and goes to another team to be HC I hope it is in the NFC. I'd hate for him to go to another team in AFC and kick our ass every time he plays us.

The handling of the quarterback position by Tomlin has been horrible.

The decision to sign Mitch Trubisky wasn't a great idea, but in and of itself wasn't the end of the world. The huge mistake that Tomlin made was preparing Trubisky to be the starter after they drafted Kenny Pickett. He should have prepared Pickett to be the starter from the beginning instead of giving all the first team reps to Trubisky. We already knew what Trubisky was, and that he was never going to be a big-time quarterback. So Pickett doesn't get all those reps with the number ones in camp, he isn't cramming all the information in his head and validating it on the field against the best players, and he doesn't get more playing time in the preseason games to prepare him to be the day one starter. Training camp and preseason is when you can really spend time with a quarterback and prepare them and work with them.

Once the season starts, there is game planning, installing the game plan, and limited practice time, so the time that you are able to spend with your first round quarterback is limited, plus he gets even less time because Trubisky is getting the lions share of preparation because he's the starter....not Kenny Pickett.

Tomlin does all that, and then after 4 games, he throws Pickett out there to be the starter. Tomlin had the entire time from the moment he was drafted to be all in on Pickett and to prepare him as much as you possibly can for that moment of being a starter. Tomlin didn't do that, so Pickett's first season where he went into camp as the #1 QB and was prepared as such was going into this season. What a wasted opportunity. It really bit them in the ass going forward and it was a huge mistake.

This is why the decision to keep Canada after the 2022 season was so bad. You saw Big Ben struggle in this offense, then Trubisky, and then Pickett. If they fired Canada after the 2022 season, a new OC and new offense would have been in place, and we would have had the ability to see Pickett play in a different system and would have a better idea about what kind of quarterback Pickett is and we would also know a hell of a lot more about the wide receivers that are stifled in this offense. Maybe many of the attitude problems never even happen if there is a competent offense in place and the receivers get a little more action and better route trees that create more opportunities to make plays. The team would have at least had a much better idea of what they had and might be able to make definitive decisions on talent.

And here we are.

This season has pretty much been a waste of time and is setting everything back within the organization, while we also watch the great players already on the roster get one year older and there is one less year left with those players in peak form and a year closer to retirement.

This year has been disastrous in many ways and has set the team back.

Although I agree with you on Trubisky having a limited ceiling I don’t necessarily agree Kenny should have started out of the gate. Plenty of QBs take time to learn the pro game and watching from the sidelines helps them for a year or two. Pickett has showed nothing to make me think he is a franchise QB and deserved to start right away. I also agree with you that Tomlin throwing him in there to early after not getting enough reps likely hurt his growth. Not surprising seeing as Tomlin is clueless about offense. Hiring Canada in the first place was mental but keeping him after last year was criminal. This whole organization is rotten and unless a complete tear down happens expect more of the same.
