We have been talking about the oline gelling for five years now. Every team has moving parts and new -players every year. The Lions have new interior lineman and two new coordinators. They didn’t play well their first week. This week they came out and put up 52 points.

Seamalu is a veteran yet he is getting worse each year he has been here. What is our excuse for him? The defense is a mess at all three levels. We can’t stop- the run or pass. We have either scouted the wrong talent for the scheme, or all the talent suddenly has gotten worse or could it actually be scheme and coaching? Whatever please don’t blame it on communication on the players within the defense. We use that lame excuse every year on defense. If it’s that difficult to communicate then simplify it.

Agree. This year looks to be the year that ushers that in if they don't right this ship these next two weeks. Must go into the bye with a at worst a 2-2 record.

The Rooney family seems to have that ride or die mentality when it comes to Tomlin. I don't think that a losing season is enough. The fan base is going to have to turn on them. Empty seats at games is probably the only thing that can force some real change........With several minutes left in the game, the cameras showed around the stadium. probably 30 to 40 percent of the seats were empty. A lot of fans were clearly not happy and did not stick it out to the end.

I know that it is only the second game in the season and that there is a lot of season left, but there did not seem to be any real improvement over last week. We are good enough to beat the bad teams and don't have a chance against the good teams. We are paying close to 300 million a year to players and coaches and they continually show up on game day looking like they took 6 days off since the last game.

#1 on Johnson - that BONEHEADED MISTAKE is on DUMMY DUMLIN. Yes, DUMMY TOMLIN.

why the HELL is he putting him on the field right now?

one more nail in Tomlin's coffin -each loss is.

these first 2 weeks SUCKED - we LUCKED OUT last week with CHRIS BOSWELL!

He like BB and Boswell have kept this ship upright for years, shame we just paid 90 halfway down the downslope, it seems that way anyway and i'm his biggest fan, he was superhuman for years and now he isn't. It's crazy to think back at all the times he won us games, and is now just a good but not elite player.

it may not be a one sided decision on the part of the Rooney’s. After a bad season Tomlin could pull the plug himself. Hes been here a long time, not sure he has the drive to oversee a rebuilding team with a young Qb and an o line still in flux, not to mention a D that may need retooling in the front line sooner rather than later

    Agree.
I'm not one to harp on the coaches all the time.
In this case, 2 stand out very much: Austin and the O-Line

On Defense, you are always trying to hide your trends and weakness.
Of course, we have some key defensive players hurt which I am beginning to suspect being a common theme.
But I saw no adjustment and no changes to week prior shortcomings. Even with certain players claiming they would raise the level of effort.
Seattle did a great job studying the film, they knew exactly what to do and when.

On offense, you have to understand what the defense is going to do.
You always have the edge as you know where the ball is going and you know the snap count.
They literally showed nothing of the sort.
Also, you gotta have a ground game.

I do have a list of boneheaded plays by players.
While I thought Metcalf had some really nice plays, he did drop a couple key passes.
While Ramsey had some key plays, he got beat a couple times - though once or twice I think the communication broke down.
Kaleb Johnson's boneheaded play is a combination of coaching and himself.
Calvin Austin caused a pick. That's indicative of coaching.

Fields came back to earth quickly when he played a decent defense. It is sad that we really are that bad.

Yeah, but CB's get beat all the time in the NFL, they have made the position almost impossible to play from what it used to be, you'll never see the legion of boom again, Hanniford and Dixon, Hayes and Haynes, Madison and Surtain, Starks and Mcallister (ugh), Green and Bailey, many others.

It's a nightmare position to play.

You do realize that Chuck Noll had a rookie running back make the same mistake back in 1990, right?

This team is deeply flawed. The defense is a mess. The offensive line is weak. The receiving corps sucks. Metcalf already has four drops this season. Two of them cost the team first downs on series in which they ended up punting. Austin is doing what he did last year. He has good games, but then he disappears. Other than turning a touchdown into an interception, he was largely invisible in this game. Even with the drops, teams are going to take Metcalf away, and the Steelers have no answers.

Yeah, we've been short a #2 WR for some time. Asutin is a complimetary piece. The TE'S are decent but there's not a difference maker in there.

In Ramsey’s defense…you don’t want him on the #1 receivers at this point in his career. We were missing some starters in that secondary.

ILB room as a whole is a disappointment. Tomlin has devalued it on our team. ILB should be the captain/leader/smartest guy on the defense. Do we even have that?

What does KJ have in running in two games, like negative 2 yards?

If ILB is so devalued, why are they paying Queen 13 million a year?

All true. I wasn't thrilled about the DKM trade and contract; it's not terrible but it's a major investment in a guy who's not top 10 in his position. We have huge resources tied into coaches with no answers and players who aren't getting it done. As always, we don't really know what the power structure is, meaning we don't know how much control Omar actually has, which is why I always start with the owner.
