My thoughts on preseason wk 3

1. Feeling a lot better about the starting offense... especially RussellWilson'scommand of it..... yes, I know it was against the lions backups, but the performance was borderline dominant

2. Cordarelle Paterson still has a really nice burst

3. Nick Herbig was a monster

4. Justin Fields performance was a bit uneven

5. Perine and edwards had no chance to make the team unless we keep 4 rbs, but they absolutely played there way to the practice squad

6. Broderick Jones held his own this time around, but the way he's holding his injured arm each snap has me concerned

7. To my eyes, no one stepped up and took hold of that 5th wr opening

8. Mark Robinson was in position to make a host of plays and just didn't

9. Still not seeing enough from the special teams coverage unit

10. Nice pick by Cam Sutton..... he will be missed for the 1st half of the season

11. Mike Tomlin missed some very good challenge opportunities

#11 really PO's me. Sometimes I think we should tape dollar signs to their heads so they frigging THINK!

 

Steelers went 0-3 in preseason, but so did KC. I really think KC is going to be fine.

 

Tomlin is almost as bad as our Bucco skipper… which is pretty darn bad!

 

The 53-man roster should be pretty cut and dry. The 16 practice squad guys should be worried because they will be changing like Tomlin does his socks.

 

Trading Tomlin for a couple of firsts would turn this team around!

#3) If Watt or Highsmith get injured I feel he will step in and dominate. He will get snaps for sure. The kid has a non stop motor.

#9) Special teams are sure not so special. A lot of Bubble Yum was chawed this afternoon

On to the regular season...

 

Mark Robinson has regressed every year, he seems to be more confused now than when he was first drafted.

 

Steelers offense had a total of only 43 snaps.

Russ ran this offense perfectly. Need to hope he stays healthy all the way.

Our defense looked dominant with many key starters not dressed. Giddy-up!

I said it before and will repeat myself here. Just kick the ball deep and take the penalty. They start at the 30.

 

I forgot what reporter/Youtuber it was, who just went on agreeing with you, that the 5 yard penalty you get for kicking it through the endzone is not going to be enough of a deterrent to keep teams from continuing to kick it through the endzone in regular season games. Preseason was fine for seeing all these kick returns, but come the regular season they will be back to blasting it through the endzone.

His suggestion was that Kickoffs through the endzone should come out to the 35, otherwise nothing is going to change from last year. Give up the 5 yards and have the ball placed on the 30, for no chance of a return.

 

Could be. We shall see.

Robinson or Matakevich? Ain't that the eternal question?

 

Number six just may be the most underrated X Factor of the 2024 Steelers given the style of Football the team wants to play. Whatever ailment that Broderick Jones has will only get worse as the season goes on. Due to that fact, should he be out for the year, that is going to hit his development even more than it already is being done in.

 

What? You don't know anything about Broderick Jones and his injury status. If he needs to move to IR, the team will do just that. They really do know more about it than you do.

 

What is known is that Broderick is, in fact, injured. How much so remains to be seen; hence why I stated Jones may be the most underrated X Factor of the team. To say the injury itself isn't going to get worse isn't realistic given the nature of the position.

 

But you do not know that. Not at all. You think it may get worse. You don't even know what the injury is.

 

Elbow injury. Sometimes a brace is used for comfort and protection, keep from hitting it type thing. Sometimes it is to restrict range of motion, let the soft tissue and binding tissues rest. If it is a tear, rupture, dislocation, fracture type injury, he would already be shut down. Jones says he's good to play. Drs say he's good to play. Trainers say he's good to play. Coaches say he's good to play. Why do you say otherwise? Even if you end up right in the long run, to say this now is just a guess and a projection of something you really don't know.

i guess if Wilson stays healthy he’ll be an improvement over Pickett/Trubisky. And Fields should prove to be a decent backup at least. Overall our offense should be better than last year

The D will be good. I saw enough in the first quarter. They’ll get plenty of stops and give our offense opportunities.

we should come out of the first half of the season with a good record (above 500: 6-3 or better hopefully) Second half will be tougher. Looking forward.
