What I want to see from KP is throwing the ball away when there is nothing there and not trying to be the hero by forcing it. I'm confident he will do just that, I just want to see it during the regular season. Scrambling to buy some time is good but not at the expense of getting leveled. I remember Brady early years getting destroyed doing that on a couple of plays and he learned. Fine balance between trying to make something happening and being out for an extended period. He's been perfect in limited preseason action so it will be good to see how he handles these situations now when the develop in the regular season. Our D should be good so he shouldn't feel the need to have put big points to win games.

Yeah, I think it was more of people wanting to skip drafting a QB in 2022, and wait to draft one in 20023.

It was more than just SDOT, and it wasn't just on this site that I saw that type of thinking.

I admit I was one of those who wanted the steelers to wait in 2023 to draft a QB, but now I'm happy with the decision of the steelers since I'm confident that Pickett will be a very good QB and it would have been unlikely that the steelers have a top 5 pick last year, even with Trubisky for a full season

I believe Bryce Young is going to be a very good QB in the long run for the panthers but I'm not sure about the other 2 QBs who were drafted in the top 4 in the last draft

Young at QB for the Steelers would worry me if he could hold up for an entire NFL season.

I went back and watched a sped up game from when Pickett was at Pitt and his accuracy was uncanny. Leads, back shoulders, screens, slants, Pickett made every single throw and put the ball in the best spot. He has that ability lIke Ben to put the ball where his receivers can keep running. I think I under valued KFP. Like many outside of the Steelers organization who were thrilled when he was available and made in the pick as fast as any team ever does.

I said from the moment that Burrow went down that he was faking his injury and I stand behind that statement. Joe believes he’s the greatest and simply doesn’t need to practice.

I am clueless as to why Desmond Ridder didn't play. Why do you want your second year QB who is still learning the NFL system on the sideline when he has a free chance to play against NFL starters and learn the NFL system?

Agreed, he should at least be smart about when to throw it away and when to take off or buy time. I think part of the scrambling last year was poor blocking and lousy route running design by Canada.

with an improved line, he shouldn’t have to scramble and run as much, I did notice most of his best passes this preseason were from the pocket. With all this being said, still not comfortable with Moore, a lot of pressure was coming from that side last year. I hope Jones takes over LT sometime during the season. His ceiling should be higher than Moores.

I have not seen enough of KP to know if he can truly throw to the very best spot , however Ben was really never that good at that .. He had a Cannon for a arm and could fit balls into tight windows he had targets with great hands with a huge catch radius .. Ben was never good at screens he was never good at leading the underneath stuff, he had no touch for the long ball or dropping a ball into a window between the levels of the Defense ..

With that said it almost sounds like I am saying he sucked, but I am not .. His main positives was his arm strength, his ability to shrug off the blitz, and the ability to rally the Team in crunch time .. IMO he was never a Guru of the game he never was a true passer , but he was more of a freak at the position meaning if you blitz him can you take him down ? Probably not .. If you play zone can you stop him from powering the ball into very small windows ? Probably not ..

I think that him and KP are much different types of a QB'S we will see if a weaker Armed QB can use the touch and the field awareness to lead this Team .. KP will never throw some of the lasers that Ben throwed after breaking a tackle, but can he use his touch and awareness of the game ? I think so ...

So to me the best KP can do is learn to beat the Defense with his brain and then use his touch to put guys in the best position to extend the play .. IMO this is exactly why guys like Austin and McFarland will have huger roles with a better touch type of QB..

I hope he takes over left tackle at some point during the season so they can push Okorafor to the bench. They aren't giving more snaps at right tackle for ****s and giggles and I don't think he's going to be a swing tackle. Eventually, their best alignment is going to be Jones at left tackle with Moore mauling people on the right side.

I thought of you when Pickett brought up McFarland last night, but we still have to see him do some of these things outside of practice. The only thing we've seen in games is that he can burn a defense if they blow outside containment.

Of course, I also thought of you when Warren raced 62 yards for a touchdown against the Bills' starters, showing McFarland isn't the only home run hitter the Steelers have in the backfield. The difference being Warren is better at every other running play, far more physical, and actually capable of picking up a blitz.

You are right that Pickett is very different from Roethlisberger and you are absolutely right about how Pickett needs to beat opposing defenses. It is exactly what he learned to do at Pitt, too.

I think KP has more natural touch on his passes than Ben. I’m NOT MAKING THIS ANALOGY but KP throws more like Montana than Ben, who reminded more of Elway. Again, not direct analogies, but KP, like Montana seems to have enough arm strength whenever needed, but great touch to put the ball just outside the defender’s reach. The throws in the last game to DJ and Pickens were beautiful.
