Pouncey is a decent center, but I don't think he's progressed as much from his rookie year as we all hoped. When called upon toplay center legursky has filled in fairly well. Would we be better off with interior line of pouncey, legursky, and decastro? By making this move we would have two guards that are reasonably quick, agile and able to pull/ get to the 2nd level. Thoughts?

I'm definitely not against it. Legursky can fill in just fine at center. We could really use Pouncey at guard

they need to shake things up. the oline hasnt been as bad this year as in the past few, but i attribute a lot of that to Haleys offense of quick passes.

the run game has been horrible though. Redman is the leading rusher with 127 yards in 5 games. thats about a 25 yard a game average for you leading rusher. not gonna get it done and i dont blame Redman.

I like the idea for now.

Colon sucks at guard, Gilbert sucks period. Put Colon back at right tackle at least until the o-line heals so Gilbert cannot take them out.

Starks Pouncey Legs Foster Colon ==>for now, until DeCastro is healthy

Maybe start Adams at right tackle and have Colon, Gilbert, and a center for backups.

    Colon already plays right guard.

He's shorter than Pouncey, but actually weighs more.

Yes he should be moved to LG.....Less thinking and more playing at Guard....A lot better help to protect Ben at LG....A lot more useful in the run game, that inside trap would work if Pouncey was the puller...A lot less chance of being hurt because he could get into position quicker if he didn't have to snap the ball....Plus if you had him and Pouncey and eventually Decastro as your 3 guys in the middle we would never miss a call....

Doug has got better and better each year ,,,but he is not A Guard type of player,,,he can't play above the line at that spot....However, he can at Center and he is a lot better Center at this point and time than Colon or Foster are at Guards...I can't understand why people can't see the huge benefit it would be for all involved to move Pouncey to LG???

To break it down one more time ....
Pouncey will have a longer career with us if he is moved...
We would get a terrible OL off the field...
We would be able to protect Ben's blind side better....
We would be able to run Traps after which the playbook would be wide open...
Our screen game would be devastating once Deastro comes back....Hard to get out in front now days from the Center it is usually the Guards,,,no wonder our screen game has never developed...

The bottom line to me is we need to ask 3 Questions..Do you think our Prowbowl Center can do the same at LG?....Yes is my answer..Do you think Doug more than holds his own at Center?I say yes again....Do you think our OL blows chunks ?I say yes....So no reason not to try it at least,,,if it fails then oh well,,but we will never know 4 sure unless we try.....
My experience tells me it will work like a charm....

So let me get this straight. Take an o line that has been trying to gel with each other after making several significant moves from last season, and appearing to be a better o line than last season (Ben has stayed upright for most of this season so far), and start mixing players up and putting them into different positions? Yeah that will magically make things better

And then of course if MT does take these players off the PS and starts unprepared rookies, as well as switching player positions and Ben gets killed out there because of it this board would be filled with calls for MT's head to roll. How about accepting the fact that we are going trough some fairly significant changes with regards to not only the o line but the entire offense and these things will take time.

Mike Webster was "Undersized" lol
I actually brought this up in a different post.... I think this would DEFINITELY up grade our O line Here is what i posted before:

I tell you what I think Legs is a pretty good center He's got that Mike Webster build and we dont seem to miss a beat when he's at C....
When Pouncy was a rookie didnt he play G before he became the starting center? If we moved Pouncy to guard and put legs at C i think it would definitely up grade our O line.Damn i really like the though of pouncy getting to pull around end alot more..I dunno just a though

Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but our one is by no means better than last year and bens sack numbers are down due to shorter pass routes nothing more. You can come up with all the what ifs you want, but Ben is just as likely to get killed with the status quo it is football after all .

Have you watched a game this year? :frustrated: That scenario you explain happens ALMOST EVERY WEEK. Mixing players up and putting them into different positions! The main reason Ben has mostly stayed upright is because in Haley's offense he's getting the ball out alot quicker. He's not waiting for receivers to come open on a 60 yard out route :? ....and when he does there is a FB that can help protect lol
These changes would actually be quite simple really. The players would be going to positions they have already played and are familiar with and Haley's blocking scheme is supposed to be much simpler...
