The knowing is in the results. He's had a ton of talent for most of his time here. The results do not reflect that talent. So once again I don't care if the players are in love with him. So many games when they looked completely unprepared to play. Humiliating playoff losses. If that's the standard of a great coach then he's the guy

The expectations here are not to resemble those teams. Noll changed the expectations. I find no comfort in other teams not winning playoff games

So I ask you then, if the Steelers win 1 then heaven forbid 2, playoff games, are you all of a sudden a Tomlin fan? I seriously doubt it. Let's be real. You don't like Tomlin now, and you're never going to.

Let's get real. I do not dislike Tomlin. I think he's a nice man and a good coach. I think his time here has run out. I understand the angst of getting a new head coach. It's a gamble. So please don't pretend to know what my likes and dislikes are because you have no clue. I simply think it's time for him to move on. Now there have been some coaching changes but his refusal to get rid of Canada to me points to a problem with Tomlins judgment. Hope that helps

Fair enough. However, let's not act like saying you don't take Tomlin is some big stretch of the imagination. I have no clue? Yourself, and others have made it quite clear how you feel about Tomlin and his track record in the playoffs in recent history so it's not like I took some wild stab at your personality traits here. Come on, man. So you like Tomlin as a person but want to see him go. Semantics.

The last 4-5 years that isn’t true. We’ve had a few good players and bunch of roster fodder. 2017 was probably the last time we had a fairly balanced team. Then in December we lost Shazier and another linebacker. Tried replacing them with someone off the street and lost to a solid jaguars team. They were top 10 on offense and defense that year. Also if I remember correctly ben gave them 14 points.

The angst of getting a new coach? Let’s get a more than likely worse coach for the heck of it and hope things get better. Makes total sense

That’s the point we don’t resemble those teams.

It's true our rosters since 2019 have been below average, mostly on offense, so I can't blame Tomlin on that, except for the Matt Canada situation...But it's still an accomplishment to not have an awful season record wise. ..But it's also true the ending the season in 2017 (losing to the Jaguars that their season was a true fluke and the steelers defense gave up at least 31 points on a below average offense) and missing the playoffs in 2018 after a 7-2-1 start and being top 6 in yards in offense and defense was unacceptable

It is not semantics. I do not believe he is able to coach this team to a superbowl any longer. I hope I'm wrong and in the next 3 years we see the Steelers back in the playoffs and winning games

You compared us to those other teams. You used the fact that those teams hadn't won anything in years to make a point about how good Tomlin is. You are correct we don't resemble those teams but in the last six years we are beginning to look like that.

So there is no chance to get a better coach? The angst comes from having a coach for so long and then turning over the team to another coach. This coaching staff has had some additions lately so we'll see if that helps. All coaches come to a point where it's time to move on. All of them. He's had a good run and if he can't do any better then probably it's time for him as well

No. I didn’t compare us to those teams. I was pointing how childish some steeler fans are. A large majority don’t have any idea what rooting for a losing franchise feels like. Y’all are whining daily about not winning a playoff game in 6 years. Even going so far as to ignore what actually transpired in the games or leading up to it and blaming the coach. There are fans that haven’t won a playoff game in decades and don’t whine as much as y’all

Isn’t doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results one of the signs of insanity

Again that's not the standard here. I don't care about other teams not making the playoffs or having many losing seasons. I'm a Steeler's fan and I only care about the Steelers. I have nothing against Tomlin I just think his time has run it's course. You will not see me saying Tomlin sucks. I'm willing to wait a couple more years and see what happens. The Steelers have made a ton of moves in free agency this year which is unusual for them. Maybe that will help. We'll see. However I don't believe Tomlin is the coach to take us back to a superbowl.

Y’all crack me up. I wonder what happened that allowed the Steelers to “make a ton of moves in free agency”? Hmmmmm truly puzzling

I'm glad you find me amusing. After all you are the fount of all knowledge on here. I would never aspire to your loftiness. We'll see how Tomlin does in the next few years

that is the shame, that we have to watch further how he fares. He should have turned his papers in when Ben was out....

I don't believe We are doing the same things.....A lot of those teams people talk about how talented We were had nothing on Defense. Now our D is being built back. People can say all they want , but our D started getting so bad that if We weren't putting up 30 points ,or around that offensively....We weren't going to win. That's not balance. I'm being serious....until Watt showed up since Troy P, and the guys left.....who did any offense fear on the team?????....We had Heyward, and bunch of average players on D....,and any that were getting good.....we didn't have very long(Ryan S.,Tuitt, and Hargrave) Now I believe We have a great group on D.
One player on D can't do it all.
