Steelers missed the boat with MacDonald, Ben Johnson and Klint Kubiak.

    Edit: And... Mike Vrabel.

They got their QB in Free Agency both times. Geno Smith first and then Sam Darnold. They've had luck with FA QB's in their late 20's unlike any other teams have. After Hasselbeck they got lucky in the 3rd round with Wilson, then got Geno Smith in FA, Sam Darnold in FA. It's not a route many teams go because there generally aren't many good QB's on the FA market, and a big salary for those guys is risky, so many teams don't go that route.

Yeah, this year's coaching market wasn't as good as the past couple years'.... That's how you end up with Mike McCarthy instead of someone like MacDonald or Johnson (even Vrabel). Between MacDonald, Vrabel, Johnson, Coen... Couple of guys have been hired the past two years to great success.

Just kinda sucks that Tomlin hung on so long. We just had a bad year for him to step down (though, maybe some of the guys that got passed over this cycle could turn out to be good HC's and will be a miss if McCarthy doesn't work for us).

Fans just live in fairytale land Ben Johnson wasn't coming to the Steelers with no franchise QB in place, and Art wasn't going to fire and pay off Tomlin to hire MacDonald so stop this hindsight nonsense .

It was just shocking to see an NFL QB in the SB be looking right at the "extra" rusher and somehow not see it. Like I am terrible at figuring out who is coming....But I could tell Witherspoon was coming. He didn't even try to hide it most times. On one of them, he got in a sprinter's stance and didn't even look at the receiver on his side.

I don't disagree that they are a year or two ahead of schedule. Their lack of playmakers on offense along with holes on the OL was glaring last night and most observers felt that way prior to this past season. So no surprises.

I dunno. I am likely just missing something....but Seattle's pressures seemed fairly straight forward stuff. I didn't see many simulated pressures or exotic switches or stunts or really anything. But, again, I likely missed it. It really did just look like they said our 4 guys can mop the floor with your 5 OL. Also the Pats RBs did themselves no favors in pass pro either.
