Just My opinion...., but I think it's more recruiting than actually coaching. I don't believe PSU has even been in the top 10 of recruiting in a while. It's hard to compete with teams that are always in the the top 10. Players, and the depth matter. It's like Arkansas for example.....their fans complain about not being as good as teams they must play every year like LSU, Bama, and so on that out recruit them by miles not some years, but every single year. It's hard to do that with any Coach. It's not the NFL where everyone goes through a draft, and teams are equal. Hell Bama, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, and so on have more 4, and 5 star backups than some teams have starters.

Well I do agree with your other comment Bajma, Ga,Ohio St probably do have more 5 stars on the bench than most of their competition has on their team.
