    Dwyer had 2.78 ypc.
    Mendenhall had 4.54 ypc.

Nothing more needs to be said. One guy clearly has better numbers, has always had better numbers and will always have better numbers. One guy has lateral quickness, good burst, good vision, one guy doesn't. Period!

This is another time that we didn't go with the hot hand. It just seems like we didn't make the right moves all year long.
Just don't get get what the coaches are looking at sometimes, like they don't have a feel of what's working and what's not.
just like when Leftwich was in for Ben against the Ravens and he could't throw and we could all see that, but they did nothing.

Mendy learns how to hold the ball properly he's a good RB. Dwyer is good for short yardage.

Today Mendy looked like the better back, he was making me nervous on how he was carrying the ball, but he had more burst today. Unfortunately we kept switching back and forth with them and could not get in the rythum with anybody.

mendy always looks good after being away for a few games, then 2 or 3 games later he's back to being the tap dancing fumbler , trade him and Ben for a QB and a proven Corner

Mandy averaged around 5 yards per carry today even though they kept switching RB's. He's the bast RB we have even if Tomlin doesn't like him.

That's the point, you play to win the game, and he was playing better today, so play him!

The numbers speak for themselves. You and other say he tap dances, but even if that's true, he tap dances his way to better numbers than Dwyer could ever dream of, and he fumbles less than other star RB's in the league.

Like I said above he always plays hard when he first comes back, then 2 games later he disappears, he's back to his tap dancing.

Dwyer and Redman are the backs this team needs, guys who can wear down D's. Yeah it's nice once in awhile for a back to break one loose and score, but I'd rather watch our backs break the other teams D's backs and score. ( 2 for 1 deal) I bet Mendy ends up in Indy.

Running back is not a position i would take high in draft. Where we pick anyway. If u can get the top back in draft maybe but good backs can be found in any round

Mendy's clearly the better back, no question there. I hope the keep him, but no matter who they have they are going to have to figure out the O-line blocking problems, wether it's scheme or players. I don't think most of the fans care who's back there as long as they produce. Thing is Shaner it's not the people on this message board you have to convince, it's the Steelers.

I see little chance Mendy stays. He will likely wind up as a RB #2 somewhere- Chicago? Cleveland? Indy?

Yes, you can get a very good RB outside in the first round. However, I still maintain that a big time RB will make a dramatic difference on this team. I'm talking about a guy who can rush for 1,200 yards or so. Add that to the equation, and a lot will change for this team. Opposing teams will have to focus less on Ben, the offense will be on the field more, giving the defense more rest, and it will make it a whole lot easier to close out games. Of course, it is not easy to get one, but if the Steelers do, 2013 will be a LOT better than 2012. Right now, Dwyer leads the team with a measly 571 yards, and it is possible that he will have the lowest total to lead the team in rushing- even including the 1982 strike year- since Dick Hoak in 1969, when they went 1-13.

It will be a big mistake to let Mendenhall go, I'm just telling you all right now. The guy should have started vs. Cinci and if we could have put together a gameplan around him I think we win. But because Tomlin has a problem with him he played sparingly even though he proved he was ready to play. Simms said Tomlin told him he does everything great in practice, he just needs to do it in the games. So what gives? The guy shows nice burst and power and has the best numbers of all the RB's. instead we go out there and split carries between three backs and put the game in the hands of our QB who is back to his old ways of playing high risk sandlot football behind a line that couldn't stop a high school team pass rush. If we are going to ever be a serious contender we are going to need a back that we can count on to carry the load. Mendenhall can do this but if he leaves we better get one in the draft or free agency. Ben has stated numerous times that he's not going to change the way he plays. It worked when we had the Bus to pound the rock and Ben was only throwing 15 times a game. But as the years pass I don't think Ben will ever try to improve on his game. Even though we have a great back in Mendenhall the coaches are still content to not have Ben develop and keep teams off balance with the run game. He will still be running around out there with wreckless abandon, ignoring his check downs, and refusing to take what the D gives him. Without a quality running game this team will continue to decline over the next few years, you can count on that.

Mendenhall "dances" because there's no where to go a lot of the time. Dwyer won't dance, he'll just try to plow through the line. Both methods get about the same amount of yardage, just when someone sees a RB "dance", they perceive him as missing an opportunity. The reality of it is equally as likely to be that he's trying to make something out of nothing.

Mendenhall did not have a fumbling issue until this year. Not sure what's going on there, but I'm sure it can be fixed.

Regardless, I would be surprised if he's back next season. I don't think Tomlin wants him and I don't think Mendenhall really wants to play for Tomlin.

I think Mendy has alot of talent but he doesnt seem to fit our style. Mabe that changes and he stays but I still lovethe old school smash mouth football! Could we bribe the Bus to leave the studio and coach or at least help with the draft. God I miss DA BUS; I think I'll rewatch the Chicago game all off season. That the one where the bus put the team on his back in the snow and led us to the promise land!

I'm going with Dwyer. He isn't screaming at his agent to get him the hell out of Pittsburgh.

It was clear in the Cincy game that mendy is the far superior back....the way he bounced outside when nothing was there..the way he had power to drag guys a few extra yards...he is a combination of agility, speed, and power...now if he just had his head on right

first of all mendy is a free agent...second of all who the h$ll is gonna play Qb? You act as if HOF Qbs grow on trees.... just look at the teams without HOF qbs...case in point Denver before manning...go look up what they have done since elway was gone... then tell me u want to trade ben...

in the 5 games mendy has played he's fumbled 3 times 45 carries, even in the cinci game he was still running with the ball out to his side, so its obvious he isnt getting the message. Dwyer only fumbled twice this year out of 145 carries.

He's only has 145 carries averaging 3.9 yards (compared to the top 5 running backs who are averaging 300 carries) nothing wrong with that especially behind a crap line, double his carries and he would be over 1000 rushing yards
