It’s ok. He came to his senses a few posts later.

I like both of our backups, but mason clearly won this competition and deserved the nod

If they think he is legitimately Ben’s successor I can’t see the Steelers letting him go. He has three years left on his rookie deal, a lot can happen in three years. It’s not something they need to worry about now or even next off season.

As of right this second, the Steelers web site depth chart looks like it is current with the cuts and still has Dobbs as second team. What am I missing?

Generic depth chart just for the sake the website. Tomlin won't reveal his depth chart until press conference on Wednesday.

Not his fault - he was listening to Duran Duran and reading a biography on UN Sec Gen Boutros Boutros Ghali at the time. :lolol:

The Patriots cut Thomas today. From what I've read, he may be back on the roster by the opener, but I'm not sure a guy who they were willing to cut helps qualify them as "stacked."

It won't matter. Belichick will sign a WR from a team's practice squad and this WR will get 2 TDS and 100+ yards vs Steelers.

I do like the Police and it's a shame Duran Duran is not yet in the Rock Hall of Fame. They had a lot of hits.

Rudolph is in a good position. He absolutely outplayed Dobbs, as Dobbs outplayed Laundry Jones last year. He has had a year to learn the system, and is one injury away from being the starting QB for what looks to be a decent team. Fate plays favorites. What could a Josh Rosen have done behind a line and with receivers like the Steelers? Rudolph fell in to good circumstances I think.

It’s a slight aside but I do think BB’s ability with this is over-egged somewhat.

Lots of teams manage to get more out of guys than their previous teams, or turn PS material into starters. Let’s not overlook what Munchak did with UDFAs, for example.

Agree. There is a lot of Top 40 and hip hop acts that have no business in the Rock Hall. Hip hop should have their own HOF.

I can imagine either Josh Doctson or LaQuan Treadwell to be some of New England's top options. I do not think that Josh Gordon will be enough; N'Keal the same as he may not be 100% himself either. Quite the interesting week one matchup.

That all said, I still have Pittsburgh beating New England. This time will be different for certain.

It's not really comparable to Dobbs and Jones last preseason. Jones barely played. That wasn't a competition. The preseason was all about seeing if Dobbs showed enough for the Steelers to feel like they could live with a backup who wasn't really ready yet for a year because there was a potential long-term benefit.

The Steelers also gambled that Ben wouldn't get hurt last season.
    They were almost right.

I doubt they would trade Dobbs, they always carry 3 QBs.

I really like Dobb's and his style of play from the QB spot ...He simply couldn't make enough average plays to hold down the #2 spot ... Mason out played him and as such moved up the depth chart ...That is how it should be ..Dobb's needs to use this as motivation to get better at routine plays.. Nothing motivates like a little failure so I look forward to how he approaches this set back ....

Mason is clearly better in our system and if Dobb's wants to stay in this type of system he has a lot of work to do ..With that said He could still be a threat in the NFl in the right system he showed that at times as well...

Agreed. Given his history and age, it was a terrible gamble, but sometimes even bad bets pay off.

They wouldn't have drafted him as high as they did to be just 3-4 year back up. Remember, some analysts were putting a first round grade on Rudolph.

I don't think Ben is going to venture at QB'ing into his forties like Brady is doing. His body will never hold up.
