I saw a story about this on NFL.COM and I was like "If Bryant gets bigger it's a good thing. If Ben gets bigger he's fat." LOL.

I wish JJ would have Bryant's attitude for strength training and getting bigger/stronger.

i hope he keeps that speed. working around AB and his work ethic should rub off on all these young guys. if so we will be hard to handle at that position, c. j. goodwin has also been doing well so far. it's going to be hard to cut some of these young guys this year. we could be scary good as the season rolls on.

Do you also get disappointed in him when you see something about him doing anything other than working out? "What's he doing at the store? He should be working out! He has no work ethic!"

You don't know anything about his attitude or what he's doing. All we can go on is reports of those around them, and everyone says he's doing everything he can. I don't get the perception that all our other linebackers that are working out together are busting their asses, and Jarvis is just sitting in the corner playing Angry Birds. He was there, wasn't he? Can't we at least assume he's putting in equal effort?

As for why we haven't heard a story like Bryant's for Jarvis... Any 6'4" 210 lb. person can pack on 10 pounds in an offseason. Bryant was skinny with a frame to fill out. A 6'2" 245 lb. person will have a much harder time, if it's possible at all. We hear stories of receivers gaining muscle to be stronger all the time. Bryant, Archer, Santonio Holmes did it, Jerry Rice did it and then shed the weight because he felt like it slowed him down... But when was the last time you ever heard a story like that from a linebacker? At that position, the guys are already as maxed out as they can be, muscle-wise (with the rare exception of a guy like Shazier, who played at 215 or so in college). Sometimes they transition into a DE or something and pack on the weight, but that's not the same thing; that's slowing themselves down, and adding fat. And most guys couldn't do that, anyway.

Jarvis does need to be stronger in 2015 than in 2014. And I expect he will be. Remember, he never had the trim body of Harrison or Shazier or Timmons. He had more of a Regular Guy look. I think he'll have shed some fat and added muscle. I think he'll play a little stronger. But I don't expect him to weigh more or look any different with the pads on.

Hopefully he keeps his speed with his size. Because he is fast for a taller guy.

Excited to see what he does this year. Adding some strength and some route versatility to his game is going to do a lot for him.

Out of all the draft picks last year, I think Bryant is really going to come on strong this upcoming season and have that breakout year. Even on top of what he did last year. He seems to be doing all the right things this offseason and is showing that inner drive to be great. Really excited to see what he does on Sundays this year.

The point is, a no. 1 pick linebacker should not get thrown around like a rag doll like he did last year. He is now going into his third year. Hope that changes this year, but I believe it when I see it. Just my opinion.

Oh. Seemed like your point to me was that he hasn't been putting the work in.

From what I've seen he's been working out with Harrison. Pretty sure he's putting in the work based on that alone.
Where are you getting the idea that he doesn't have the right attitude?

He has yet to show that he could bull rush or be more physical against offensive tackles or tight ends. He gets man handled and locked up at the point of attack. So far his game is to make a big loop around the tackles or tight ends because he cannot engage physically or does not have the right leverage. This also hurts against the run because he takes himself out of the play by looping so much.

JAD, I hate to seem like I'm piling on but you realize that Jared Allen has had record sack totals by just looping around the outside? Guys like Harrison who don't have speed use power aka bullrush, Jonas has quickness and can get around the edge so why engage if you can get around.

I think what he's trying to say is that with the lack of bend and power/strength, his loops are too big taking him out of the play. Also, he's not able to hold the point of attack when needed like JA and JH. There's plenty of tape on this. The rag doll is maybe exaggerating a bit.

Seems like he's saying that JJ isn't putting in the time in the weight room.
