Why do only fans seem to want Mark Robinson to get time at ILB.

Robinson has been a fan favorite since last year, but the coaches quickly put a stop to the Robinson hype this offseason by bringing in outside help to bury Robinson on the depth chart. Then during the offseason the DC made it clear that Robinson would not be allowed to compete for a starting job until 2024.

This defense can't seem to stop the running game and I have been asking myself "When will Robinson get some defensive snaps?"

Against the Raiders, Robinson had his first defensive snaps of 2023. (4 to be exact). And on those 4 plays he was able to stop the run on 2 of them and push the RB back for a loss on both plays he was involved in.

4 plays; 2 solo tackles for a loss and a 79.5 PFF grade.

So, we have a run stopping machine in Mark Robinson standing on the sideline for the entire game against the Texans!!!! WTF!!!

What is going on with the DC?

This is interesting. Wallace, Fitzpatrick and Peterson played every defensive snap in the game. I would think this may explain some of the problems on defense in the Backfield Sunday. That means when Porter came in for his 10 TOTAL plays he was not replacing one of the Starting CBs to give them a rest.

Mark Robinson is the only Steelers ILB I've seen in the last 10 years that is willing to stick his face in the fan blades and make a stop in the run game.

I'm not sure what it would take to get him on the field?

I am anxious to see Mark Robinson get his first start as a Steeler against Cleveland.

I know he had some problems last week, but I can't wait to see what he does this week as a Starting ILB. Being the number 1 guy all week in practice is going to be a totally different experience for Robinson.

We are going to see some Hard-Hitting in Cleveland this weekend.

Will hit anything that is moving, unfortunatley that may also include defending a pass receiver trying to catch a pass. He is NOT afraid of contact

I just read where Walker is starting on Sunday over Robinson. Disappointed to say the least. I had really hoped that Robinson would be given a chance to have all the 1st team reps in practice and then Start his first game of his NFL career to show what he can bring to the table.

Steelers to start LB Mykal Walker and S Trenton Thompson vs Browns (msn.com)
2 practice squad players going immediately to the starting Job. I don't know what that says about our backup players that have been on the active roster. (Robinson, Sullivan, and Killbrew)

Robinson plays the same ILB position as Roberts. He wouldn't be the most likely choice to start in stead of Holcomb or Alexander. I would be willing to bet we are still going to see a lot of 93.

As for Sullivan and Killebrew, Sullivan is a CB and not a SS.... Killebrew is a ST player that would see snaps on the defensive side of the ball sparingly. Elijah Riley could see some sub package play at S due to his experience there, but they are making him a full time slot CB it seems. Not sure that it is a scathing indictment of any of the three players you mentioned.
