Bad news for us. Takes one more QB prospect off the board for the many teams that need one and means one more non-QB stud will be selected by the time we pick.

Very wise move ... Mariota feared he was Cleveland bound, since they have two number #1 picks. :applaud:

:this!: We weren't taking a QB anyway, but like you said, he'd be one more player surely selected ahead of us.

I'd prefer to say Good news for us.... let him age one more year, let ben get another year, I think we are a minimum 3 years away from considering a Ben replacement.

    True!

But if we are in a position that we have a shot at drafting Mariota next year then Fire Everyone Immediately! :-D

With Cleveland setting there with those two #1 picks, anyone else that was thinking about coming out early will likely also be having some 2nd thoughts. :lolol:

Mariota was the one guy that would even begin to sway more towards the idea of trading Ben...

Tons can happen between now and then, but Mariota is certainly the frontrunner for the #1 pick next year. If we're high enough to have a chance at him then it is time to blow it all up and trade Ben.

For me it's Winston, by a lot. I need to see more from Mariota, whether he can consistently make the big throws at the next level, before I'm sold on him being that pick. The Stanford game should be cause for concern. Look how poorly he preformed comparatively. He was rattled, he avoided taking available lanes because of his knee, etc. Staying in another year is a great move by him.

Agree. Assuming that Winston is cleared at 2 PM today, he is a guy that has "franchise" written all over him. In a about a month, he will also have National Champion on his resume after FSU beats Ohio State by 20.

They already have Ben's replacement on the roster Landry Jones (sarcasm).

Post on a New England message board exactly 13 years ago:

They already have Drew's replacement on the roster Tom Brady (sarcasm).
