He ran a 4.71 today.. Talk is he's back in the 17-21 range.. I'd support the selection.. Thoughts?

Why, because of one game against the best college O-line in a long time? Or are you buying into the fake girlfriend hoax? Just wondering..

His brains and Timmons athleticism would make for a deadly combo.

To be honest i think ND played overrated competion, and when they played a couple of legit teams, he failed to sho up. also the media made him a bigger deal than what he was,... Hell from what i here there where not that many teams rep at his proday, . Also i still believe he was in on that lil scam this past year , there is no way someone is that (nieve)? And if he is i dont want them on my team.. That being said if the Steelers draft him, there is nothing i can do but support the team..:steelflag:

I would take him. I think he played pretty good last year regardless of the Alabama game. The entire Norte Dame team sucked that game.
As far as the hoax, I'm not sure which way it went. Was he part of it or not. But If he wasn't, I'm pretty sure everyone at one time got duked my some scam. Either by a woman sometime in your life, used car salesman, or Publisher's Clearing House. All I know is what is on tape, and the guy can play.

And give Keith Butler a year with him he will be another Kendrell Bell minus the injuries.

Bell and him are totally different. Bell just attacked never had to read the offense just attack. I believeonce he was asked to read and react he couldn't do it.

Hell no even if he ran a 4.3 I wouldn't want him part of the Notre Dame hype he's overrated. If you can't tackle backs from Bama or get off blocks the same thing will happen to you in the NFL.

I haven't been much of a believer in him. Personally I watched a bunch of MWC, BIG 12 and Pac 10 football this season and think if they say he is in the 17-21 range that isn't good value. Look at Teo, then look at a few guys very very similar in skills that probably will go 3rd and beyond. AJ Kline from Iowa ST is a dude that I think is better, Kiko Alonso from Oregon is really good. Alabama's Johnson a tough dude. Those 3 being picked later in draft for basically the same player minus the ND PR machine that over valued Teo in the first place. I hope Steelers don't let me down by drafting him...... that would seriously SUCK

    I'd be alright with it.

His combine performance did little to change my opinion of him. I thought he was a late 1st round prospect before it, and I think he's a late first rounder now. I think his range only dropped in the media's eyes.

The underwear olympics is just a small piece of the overall puzzle.

Way back before girlfiendgate and the BCS game, I thought of him as a late 1st rounder to early 2nd rounder. I'm still thinking the same way. At pick #17, I'd see him as a pretty big reach. At pick #48 I think he provides good value.

I'm open to it, but not in round 1 at #17. I think thats a little bit of a reach.

I don't think he makes it out of the 1st round let alone pick #48.. Mel Kiper said after the pro-day he had solidified a 1st round grade.. and I agree.

I never moved him out of the second half of round one....I would rather take Rolando McClain...and then not have to draft a ILB early...but I would take Te'o in a heartbeat.

Absolutely. One game doesn't erase an entire body of work and the kid has great instincts, always around the football. What did he have, like 7 picks last year? God knows we could use some of that.

Some guys are funny. I don't like ND as much as the next person, but to talk about them as being overhyped, or that their opponents were not very good? They played Stanford, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC, Miami, and Michigan State. All those teams had decent, and a few "great" seasons. Plus, they are traditionally good teams, and it's not ND's fault they have an off year or not.

Heck, #17 may be a tad high, but I bet he'll be a very good to excellent pro linebacker......

I was never gaga over Te'o like some around here. Even when he was being ranked as a Top 10-15 guy and some people wanted to trade up for him, I was not one of them. I also had a better option at ILB at #17 (Ogletree). Te'o had a solid NCAA career - there is no denying that. Did he choke on the biggest stage? Of course he did. Its a red flag but not a complete detriment. The GF hoax scandal isn't an overly big deal to me, other than it being completely ludicrous. Is Te'o mentally tough enough to handle the ridicule that he is very much going to receive over the next couple of years?

Here's my issue - I just don't think he is a 1st round calibre player. How good were AJ Hawk, Dan Connor and Paul Posluszny in college? What kind of an impact are they having now? For me to like an ILB in Round 1, I need more of a resume than tackling scrubs from Navy every year. Teo's star was brighter than it should have been because he starred on Notre Dame. Where are the much hyped Brady Quinn & Jimmy Clausen now? I say Buyer Beware on ND star players.

I think Te'o will ultimately go in the bottom of the 1st round and someone will get a serviceable ILB. 1st round calibre? Not in my opinion.

Would you take him at 17? I could maybe buy into taking him in the first IF we trade down and pick up an extra draft pick or two in the process.

Yeah I would, if we did it your way, all the better but I believe he is first round talent and I can see him as a guy who will run the defense.
