Long time Eagles fan, now joining the Nation

Hello Everyone,

I have grown up in Dallas and have been an Eagles fan since 1990 (I'm 39). I became a fan of them because of the defense, Randall Cunningham, and dislike for my dad at the time. My parents were die hard Cowboys fans, season ticket holders, and Cowboys stuff everywhere. I hated my dad's alcoholism and joined the Eagles just to spite him .

Fast forward to now, I have more Eagles clothes than I can count, have been die hard with them. But I asked myself why? I have no attachment to the city, nor are any of my close friends either. So my best friend, who is my wife of 18 years uncle, is a die hard fan of the Steelers since the 70's. We have always had a mutual respect for each others team and never talked crap to another.

My health isn't great. I suffer from chronic back pains (10 years), which has lead to depression at times because of the misery. I started making some changes in life, to where I am eliminating things that bring me sadness. Whether it be not following news sites on Facebook that have tons of racists comments, getting angry about little things, and so on. One source of pain though has been the Eagles. I just got to the point where I can't take the stupidity of the franchise and their fan base. They have done one thing after another which defies reason over the years. Have a great RB, great receivers and let them go for nothing. Sure they fired the coach but the owner let it happen.

So here I am joining the Steeler Nation (with my wife's uncles approval). I respect the team, the fans, and the never give up attitude, What tipped the scales was what you overcame this season. You lost your elite RB, QB for weeks, center, and then your top WR and you still continue to find ways to win. Sure you didn't win last week, but the season was a success because of what you overcame. This team doesn't go crazy in FA. You build thru the draft and create a pipeline of talent. You're owner is great, and your coach looks like Omar Epps. What more could you ask for?

So I will be headed to the big hangout spot for Steelers fans in Dallas with my bud Chris Lattimer and be loyal going forward. I still wish the Eagles well and will wear some of their clothes, most of my wardrobe is Eagles related, so I am phasing out the old, in with the great.

I think that is great. I hate Dallas with the utmost of hate ever. Just remember, if any goofy Cryboy fan yells America's team and all of that nonsense, it was offered to Pittsburgh first.

Hello & Welcome!! Glad you chose us, but I can't promise that this team won't cause you some sadness & frustration! I don't mind the Eagles (unless we play them of course). I just couldn't understand why they gave Chip Kelly so much control & got rid of Nick Foles. I thought he was a good fit.
