The Steelers have signed their last draft pick to a four year deal. While the terms of the deal haven't been disclosed yet, I can give you my prediction. I estimate the contract will have a total value of around $2.6 Mil, with a 440k(ish) signing bonus. Probably 17% or so of the contract guaranteed. This year's cap number coming in around $515,000.

Good, hope he earns a second contract.

Question, where do we currently stand cap wise after this signing using your projections?

I'm not in front of my spreadsheet, but the NFLPA has us at about $4.44 Mil in space. I can't recall off the top of my head what number I have us at right now. Anyway, my estimate would leave us with a little over $4.3 Mil based on the NFLPA's figure.

HAHAHAHAAHAH!!!! I keep waiting to turn on the tv and have them break in to regularly scheduled programming to announce that a crazy man in a Steelers jersey is running through downtown Scranton screaming his head off about a football deal he very much disapproves of. LOL! Myron is the man!

Surprised that they would even want to sign a QB that hasn't played an NFL game to 4. Grad has some under his belt.

If they see potential, then more years is always the best way to go. I guess they do.

They don't have a choice. Under the CBA, all drafted rookies get signed to a four year deal. The only slight exception is for first round picks. Clubs can exercise a fifth year option to retain rights to the player.

Sadly, my crystal ball is stuck on 'salary cap' and won't switch to 'lottery numbers' or 'game scores'.

Well, the contract length doesn't mean all that much really. He could basically get released anytime before that, and the team would only be on the hook for his signing bonus. Who knows how this kid will turn out in a couple years, though. We should give him and the coaching staff a chance.

    True 'dat. :lolol:

why does every qb after dennis dixon have to play like dennis dixon? they are two different qb's and people. one has nothing to do with the other one. plus we have a different qb coach then dixon had.

heck i hope the kid outshines ben. then we know we have more trophies coming down the line. why root for the kid to fail?

Because Mac, simply put he isn't Ben. We could draft a Frankenstein monster made of Starr, Bradshaw, Montana, Marino and Elway with a small dose of Tarkenton thrown in for a fluke and people would still say they aren't Ben and the Steelers will never win again without him.
