I have 8.5" too and can just barely grip an NFL sized football. If I were to drop it down, running or whatever, there is a 30 or 40 percent change it'd slip out of my grip. VERY easily knocked loose. If that leather gets wet, it gets dicey even making a throw for me.

I just don't like his future in the NFL. He might pass somewhat well, but there will be too many points left on the field with turnovers or missed throws or diving to recover his own fumble. Those add up over time and can mean the difference in making the playoffs or losing in the playoffs.

He sure does. I have 8.5" hands as well and I am 5'8" and a normal body type (not sqautty fat and not bean-pole lean). 6'3" and my sized hands...yikes.

A fully inflated college football and NFL football are the exact same size

He's played 5 years in Pittsburgh, so inclement weather is nothing new to him. He's used to it.
In the last two seasons, he's fumbled 10 times and lost 3. Over the same time period, Malik Willis is 14/5. Desmond Ridder (10" hands) is 10/7. Matt Corral (9.5) is 10/5. Sam Howell (9.13) is 12/5. Pickett doesn't have a fumbling problem and he loses them at a lower rate than anyone else when he does fumble.

I do know a couple of guys who are out if work that can prep those balls for him in just the right way. I mean like hall of fame type preparation.

Against college level talent, you forgot to say vs college level talent. I only bring this up because several guys have said it this past week about how they thought going from college to the pros was just going to be a continuation of the party and they find out going up against 11 pro guys is way different than college ball.

NFL footballs are an 1 1/4 larger in circumference then college balls.

Also, Pickett fumbled 26 times in his college career. His last two season he improved upon that but fumbles are something he has struggled with.

During Senior Bowl week, he performed poorly in the rain. He has surprisingly few games in poor weather conditions in college but the games he has played, he has done poorly and has a very low QBR.

Well there's the old expression about a certain matter that "more than a handful is wasted". Not sure what the antithetical would be for hands.

If he drops to the Steelers, draft him. If not, no. However, if the Steelers feel they can trade a 3rd and/or whatever to go up a couple spots to make sure to get him, I wouldn't balk. It's worth a little risk.

I had to do it. Measured 9 on the nose.

 9 is the perfect size for my hand to cover my eyes during the many facepalms Mason Rudolph will force upon me in 22.

He has never played as late, and as long into the bad weather as You do in the NFL. Never.

All those other guys BobbyBiz compared him to did that against lesser competition in college, too. In the case of Willis, that competition was significantly more inferior.

It looks like your guy Willis had a fumbling problem in college, and he did it against worse competition than Pickett faced. Also, keep in mind that the fumble total was in 52 college games. Any team that spends a first-round pick on Pickett is looking at 2021, the finished product, not the guy who looked like he was going to be a Day 3 pick before his senior season.

I know I am. LoL, but totally agree about Pickett. I think though all situations aren't the same, and Pickett could be wonderful for a team like N.O., or Atlanta.....where some years you only play 2 games outside, and if You get home field ....stay indoors.

Yeah, it’s a concern and silly to pretend it’s not. I’m not saying to pass on him if he is available to us but I’ll worry about it until he proves it’s not a problem.

Be honest. I don't want him anymore....because of it. Like I said New Orleans, or Atlanta would be perfect for him. Just not Here. If We make the playoffs 88% of the time will be in weather He has never really played in.

When fully inflated, that's just simply not true.
Also, I compared Picketts last two seasons because those are Willis's only two full seasons as a starter and wanted to compare apples to apples.
His lone rainy game this year vs UNC he was 25/43 for 346 with 3td/1int. His QBR was 63.5 his second lowest of the year. By comparison, Willis had 5 games with a lower QBR all coming in the last 7 games of the season.

I watched that game vs UNC many times. It never looked to me like it was raining in the 1st half when Pickett was rolling. In the 2nd half, he didn’t look like a 1st round QB. Howell had a decent 2nd half comeback in the wet weather. I admit that I’m spooked by it. His throws during that wet day at the Sr Bowl didn’t look good.
