Lit bit different playing FB, and coming in playing center as a starter (something he hardly did in college).

I posted this on the Universe. If Green makes this team as FB after all he has had to read and hear from fans and media both, I may just buy a jersey.

he did in camp, preseason and all year in the pro's, plus the 4 in college. that's a good bit of practice at center. that's 20+ games and practice. tons at guard. still couldn't do it. still not the guy i want counted on to go into a game if cole or anyone else goes down.

This! Nate Herbig also James Danials can slide to center if needed. How could anyone want to see that bust play center again? Plus he stated he doesn't like playing center. Then they change him to guard last season and he was inactive the whole season taking up a roster spot. Had a couple of shots at playing fullback and all of a sudden he will take up a roster spot when they only USE a fullback on a very limited basis. VERY Limited. Couldn't even get a hat to help on special teams. Time to cut bait and let him go take up someone else's roster spot.

Green is a long shot to make the team, IMO. Conner Heyward played very well in the last few games in '22 season.

Again 1st 3 picks in Pittsburgh get many chances 90% of the time unless they do something to force the Steelers hand...Example:Jarvis Jones(I may not have seen a worse olb), T. Edmunds, and Hood just to name a few.

Your post assumes it is Heyward's job he would take. I don't think that is the case. They provide different skill sets.

That's because Richardson demonstrated that he was useless very quickly. Jones wasn't useless. He was just a massive disappointment given how high he was drafted.

Yep. If he was drafted in the 6th or 7th round, it would have been a decent pick.

That's because Noll was the coach when Huey was on the team. After one training camp Noll saw that he stunk and sent him on his way.

KG at fullback is a fun experiment and while he is a pretty unique athlete I won’t be holding my breath for him to have a big impact in the regular season. If he can get himself a roster spot this way I say well done to him. He had a tough introduction to the NFL and he seems like a good kid that works hard

According to Steelers Depot Herbig has been taking the most backup center reps.

That's an opinion. He played here 4 years ,and had 6 sacks. In a job that sacks are a major factor in what he supposedly does.

Undersized for the other positions on the line, I'm guessing is what people mean by that.

Here's a fact. You quoted the wrong post. I assume you are talking about Jones. No, he wasn't good, but he was damn sure better than Huey Richardson. That is inarguable among the sane. Imagine how bad you have to be for a team to give up on a first-round pick that quickly.

That's correct. He was Chuck Noll's last #1 draft pick and then Noll retired at the end of the year. Cower got rid of him in his first year of coaching.
