Kendrick Green- Fullback?

Apparently Kendrick is playing some fullback at Friday Night Lights. Actually looks decent and even caught a pass. With the retirement of Monte they may be looking for one.

 

YouTube showed one of his blocks at FB where he just blew up a defender on a sweep. Maybe they found a spot that he can excel in.

 

That would be awesome. Seems like a good kid.

 

FBs don’t have to shotgun snap the ball so this could work.

 

Apparently he trucked one of our linebackers after he caught a pass.

 

That’s the best play he’s had in 2 years. Big fella is mobile.

 

He's really quick on his feet. With a head of steam, he is going to truck non-linemen and clear a path.

He may have found his calling.

Well if they want to take up a roster spot he best be active for the occasion and play special teams unlike last season taking up a roster spot and sitting the whole year. Wasted pick they are grabbing at straws.

 

Just for comparison-
Patrik Ricard, Ravens' Pro Bowl fullback, ran a 5.1 40 at the combine at 300lbs.
Kendrick Green ran a 4.89 40 at 305 lbs.
It can be done.

 

it's been done here before. problem is, way too many gadget and special teams guys on game day. there are only so many positions open on that day.

 

Green can also play guard and center if a man goes down or misses a play

I'd be fine with it if the running backs averaged 6 yards per carry.

 

If he has a knack for it, he would be useful for short yardage and goal line situations. Also, a good asset for when weather makes passing difficult. They can dress him when they think they need him. Meantime, maybe he contributes as a back up center/guard.

 

usually at least 7. one swing tackle and one center/ guard interior player. minimum. herbig would be my interior choice over green. if heyward gets a suit on game day along with 2 RB's and 3 other TE's that's 13. 2 QB's, 5 WR's, a return man? that would be 21. 3 specialists. 24. 5-6 DL, 3-4 OLB'ers, 4 ILB'ers, 8 DB's. 46. special teamers? extra wr? extra RB? don't they only dress 47?

 

It's not impossible, though that was a switch from college defensive lineman to pro fullback. Roosevelt Nix made that same transition. It's still a long shot, but it's wroth a shot. It's not as if they are ruining some great career for him as an offensive lineman.

 

Winner.....if He is a backup Guard, center, and fullback.....he will dress most games.
Also as We have all seen ....this kinda stuff takes care of itself every year. No such thing as having too many anything.

I replayed that several times but couldn't tell who the defender was. Maybe they are still trying to dig him up out the turf he was buried so bad.

 

It was some no name LB just a camp body.
