$6.9MM is a very big dead money hit. I don't se NO taking that just because a player is having a hissy fit. He also wants the money guaranteed and the Steelers won't do that.

He didn't do much here actually. It seemed like he was finally starting to come in to his own here and then walked for more money but that NO defense was really bad. Not saying that was his fault but I'm just saying.

Ah the State on the end makes a difference - about as much difference between those programs as there is between ... well a Duck and a Beaver.

Ironic.... that he signs his big contract.... agrees to terms..... NOW he wants the last 3 years guaranteed???? What a dumb a$$, NO thanks, he can take his all "me" mentality someplace else and look for guaranteed contracts. Let's not forget, he was HS friends with Mike Wallace (IIRC).

The fact that Colbert has stated that Allen is coming into camp to compete he better make a total turnaround or he will be out of town, hence the 360 reference. Compete?! Yea, that reeks of confidence. If a trade can be arranged and a contract worked out come on Keenan. I got your back.

I forgot about that. He did get less than he would've gotten here didn't he? I remember he sent out a tweet about how he was glad that he was gonna get to go home or something.

Woooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, so now he sees what's happening and now he wants his next 3 years guaranteed? Sorry buddy, you can't just change the rules because now you don't feel secure. No one else is allowed to do that, what makes you so special? NFL player contracts are not guaranteed, that's just how it is, other than the 1st year and signing bonus. If he wanted guaranteed $ he should have been a baseball or hoops player.

Nobody does. All that is guaranteed is first year and signing bonus, and the hope that it will cause too much of a cap hit if they dump you early in the contract. Other than that, not guaranteed, nor will it be.

"Compete" doesn't mean "compete to make the roster." It could mean "compete for the #1 spot" or "compete for a starting role." Obviously Cortez will have to show us all something in preseason, based what he put on the field last year. I think Colbert and the team have confidence he can rebound. This same stuff happened to Ike, and Keenan Lewis. CB is halfway to being a kicker in terms of how important one's mental state is. You get shaken up, your whole game is wrecked. He just needs to get back to being himself.

I'm not a money guy, so... Hey money guys,

How doable is it for the Steelers to trade for Keenan, or pick him up if he's cut? Seems like we should be able to make it work if we want to, and he might be worth it. Still got a couple good years in the tank.

Extremely easy for us. We may have room now, but would certainly have it if we cut Cam Thomas. Hard for the Saints though because they would increase his cap hit from 4.85 mil to dead money hit of 6.9 mil. I don't see it happening.

He didn't get to do much here because he sat on the bench for 3 years, he only got to start his final season. I would take him back in a trade the Saints can have that midget scatback Archer for Lewis, Archer could play the role of Darren Sproles for the Saints.

If I were the Saints, I'd tell Keenan that the only way he'll get a "guaranteed" contract is to refuse to live up to the terms of the contract that he signed a couple of short years ago and be "guaranteed" that he doesn't earn a penny of the remaining payout!

Having said that, it would be great to have a CB with Lewis's talent back on the team but the Saints being willing to release or trade him just because he's being ridiculous would surprise me more than the Jason Worilds' retirement.

You never know, if they dont feel like dealing with a disgruntled player and can get a draft pick for him, it's a possibility, albeit a small one.

Well I for one could live with that scenario, always said that Sean could get use out of archer if he's in fact legite. Interesting trade scenario for sure.

Ha... If the Saints would actually go for that deal, I'd come to Pittsburgh to help Archer pack.

Compete is a broad stroke. I hope he can get his head on straight and live up to the contract that was afforded him. I'm not so sure. From a meltdown to a #1? Lewis if available for a trade would offer what they don't have on the roster. A #1 CB. Work the books and push for the trade Colbert.

He's just another average corner trying to get more money out of his team, he wont come here for cheap, so we can move on without him, we can draft a couple of corners and develope them while they get experience starting...

People the elephant in the room is Cortez.
We need to find all we can about him and quickly. The Steelers seem to be banking on him being able to be a productive CB in this league?
We are going to draft a cb& safety and they better be able to compete from the get go.
