Bell offers nothing anymore. Whether it’s talent or his heart isn’t in it, the guy is done.

It’s alarming how much he has dropped off. I thought once he got to KC that Reid would find a way to work him in but he hardly got on the field. It’s easy to forget how good he was as a Steeler, leading the league in yards from scrimmage virtually every year.

I honestly did not think he would fall so quickly I thought with his receiving skills he would transition into a role Shady McCoy played pretty well for several years.

Not only that, he was so good at picking up the blitz on passing downs, it’s inexplicable how NFL teams now seemingly have no use for him.

Bell's patient running style won't work everywhere, he didn't realize how good he had it with the Steelers.

Like DeAngelo Williams said when he had 2 take Bells place( one of his suspensions) ,and was leading the league in rushing. When asked he said He was never the 1st things Defense keyed on.
He also said later(in an interview)that Bell would realize that when he(Bell) left the team.
I argued with fans a lot about Bell . I thought he was good, but not a great as everyone else thought. There is a reason every back that had 2 sub him, though out his injuries, and suspensions looked ok until last year.

I felt the year Bell sat out and Conner did fill in nicely behind the line, it had to hurt his value. Conner wasn't great, but let's be honest the line made him look better and had to make others question Bell's ability versus running behind the Steeler O-line.

Being ran into the ground+injuries+stupidity+head/heart out of the game= his current soup du jour. he was done before actually taking his first holdout layoff... So thankful he didn't sign the deal, it would've been another bout of buyer's remorse on this end.

i agree dob. i will say though in the short stint with KC he did have one game they used him that he had a couple of good runs in a series. then back to the bench he went. i wondered why at that point. now if he can see he's not mr. big chest two and can rededicate himself there may be something left for a team but i'm glad it's not us and i'm glad we didn't spend the 14.5 mil. a year on him at that time.

So does this mean that we won't draft a bonefide rb high in the draft?

No, they will probably still draft a RB in round 1 or round 2.

Just means they aren’t forced to reach in the draft.

Same process every year. Now draft BPA at pretty much any position.

Bell wasn't a great back even in his prime. He was novel and ran behind a very good OL. His style wasn't easy to defend since defenses prepared against more traditional rushing attacks every other game of the year. Our running game wasn't easily mimicked by scout teams. AND he had a supporting cast to take focus off him as well. He wasn't all that. Never was.

That is the reality and need this team has has for some time. There is little downside to bringing him on board, if they cut him nothing is owed.if he makes the team it is a minimum 1 year investment. Hell if he can make 50% of the short yardage runs that is likely a huge increase from last year.

It was so frustrating watching this team try to convert short yardage plays, the RB would get tackled for no gain, or Ben would throw and the receivers would drop it or the pass would get batted down at the line of scrimmage .

Or no FB lead and hand it off to your smallest back 7 yards deep, to see him squashed 10 yards deep lol.

You mean the Ben "No Huddle/No Run" offense

It was all part of the master plan. Let's run shotgun no huddle, throw short passes behind the line of scrimmage for no gain, then get a few balls batted down so the defense won't know what is coming next when we are done with this 3-and-out.
