I see a lot of discussion on this message board
about taking another WR, early in this upcoming draft. How many passes do you want Ben to
throw a game? What is wrong with our existing
    WR/RB/TE corp,that they cannot compete
for the available passes that will be thrown.
    AB=80/90 Wheaton 50,Cotch 50,Heath 60
and the big one and lets hope TH uses him
correctly Bell 50-60. Now I would like for the
Steelers to add a TE to get rid of the crap behind Heath, I can also forsee adding a a wr in the late rounds to compete with Moye/Brown.
Don't forget Wheaton was injured a lot last year and only a rookie and Cotch is an above avg
receiver. Wheaton is an AB clone, give him
a chance. Add it up, how many passes
do you want Ben throwing. Remember
that BELL IS THE REAL DEAL.

I agree ward. my main concern is if bell goes down. we won't be near the team without him and I don't see in any way, shape or form dwyer can take over that spot, nor anyone else that was on this team last year. I'd sure like us to get a decent feature number two behind him. carlos (cough, cough).

While I do like Wheaton, I think we all do, I think its incredibly optimistic to think he can catch 50 balls this year. Also, I don't think its a slam dunk that Cotchery comes back, although I hope he does. His Red Zone production was great this season. 50-60 receptions for Bell is about right. Although as mac pointed out, what happens if he goes down? Dwyer can catch the ball, but I doubt they go to him 50 times.

I think Wheaton needs more time. Cotchery is getting up there and his years are surely limited. Not to mention he had a career year out of nowhere this season. Was it an anomaly, or can he keep this production up?

My plan would be to draft the big and physical WR Mike Evans. So for now, we would have AB as the #1, Evans #2, Cotchery #3 and Wheaton #4. Down the road, Wheaton would slot up to #3 when Cotchery's time is done. I just look at all the 6'3+ 215+ WRs who are dominating the game right now (Megatron, Thomas, Gordon, Green, Johnson, Marshall, Jeffrey, Larry Fitz, Jackson). I want a slice of that pie and I think Mike Evans is the guy to do it.

As big of a fan of DEFENSE as I am, the NFL has changed the rules to SCORE POINTS. This includes taking TDs instead of FGs. The game is not so much about field position anymore. It is about scoring as many points as you can. This is why I am advocate of taking a WR in Round 1, then making 3 straight defensive selections.

Ben threw 584 passes this season. Manning, Brees, Brady, Stafford & Ryan all threw for over 600. Maybe this is the direction we should be heading in.

I know Seattle is in the SB with a strong running attack and great defense. I'm the first to say I wish the Steelers could go back to this model, however, we just do not currently have the personnel to do it.

Defense and oline. Develop the WR's we have, pick up a backup RB in the late rounds.

I agree. I don't think we have to go first round for one of these big wr's if they are just big. they have to be able to do all the wr things required as a number 2 for us. I have no problem upgrading the o-line and allowing our highest paid player more time and a better run game. he will find receivers if he isn't running for his life. we got a little better with beachum at LT but there is still room for improvement amongst this group. it's just better than what we have had for years so everyone thinks it's a done deal. one injury and we are in a world of hurt again.

If they can draft a big physical WR who can be productive their offense would be one of the league's best. Re-sign Cotchery and then you have Wheaton, rookie WR, Antonio Brown these would be your top 4 receivers.

it all depends on whats available for me. I do think you can never have enough weapons on offense. lets say brown gets hurt. who is gonna fill those shoes? we saw what the passing game looked like without heath. can you imagine without Antonio? not saying we need to spend a 1st round pick on one but if a stud is there in any round. TAKE HIM

I would like to see a true number 2 that would allow Cotchery(if he is back) Wheaton/ Brown/Moye/Burress(agian if back) and even AB to work the slot or bunch formation to really work that middle of the field. I want to see that guy on the outside that can force dbl coverage and allow the underneath stuff where some of the guys on the roster make their living including AB.

    Agreed... with a twist.

    Give me:

1st- Ebron TE UNC or Amaro TE Texas Tech
    and
2nd- Matthews WR Vandy or Robinson WR PSU

That's some talent on the offensive side of the ball!

This too has to be looked at, I forgot to mention RB, if LSH comes back as good as new I look
for TH use him quite a bit.Pray that Bell
does not have any significant injuries, because
he is going to be one of our GO TO GUYS
    OUR MATT FORTE.
