Even though he is a North Catholic product I'm on his side;)

I went to a High School Championship game way back in the 70's where NC stomped all over my Central Catholic boys. Dan Marino would take over the helm after I graduated.

When players hold out who have never ever played a down in the NFL I tend to expect more from them since they seem to hold themselves in such high regard. Some were bust, some were not. I watched his highlights from College and I'm far from an expert but we may have ourselves one hell of a cornerback.

Hopefully Joey Hype Jr lives up to his draft position. He will be facing top flight NFL receivers and can't go back to his grabby ways. The zebras will not be his friend. Was not enamored with the pick. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Every one signed so lets get the party started...

He better be good because the Steelers would have traded down if he wasn't available .
Who knows what the offers where....
I get it, the Steelers like to keep it all in the family, which is great , just hope it works.

I see what you are saying, as he signed before camp there was no hold out..see he can be a rookie. lol In this case I do not think it was a big demand that held him up, the numbers are pretty much set with the position you are drafted. Being a 2nd round 32 pick may have marred it a but, but an article I read pretty much summed it up in the % of the final year guarantee, a couple of picks after him were given a greater %, Levi taken just after him was holding out for a bit more, and so it goes.

Just glad he is in camp, now let's rock.

It's a great thing ... if we do. Younger and upgrades ... in a Steelers secondary and they can catch?! This could give us a top 5 defense and 3 more wins than last year.

It's just speculation, but I would think probable we at least get to the playoffs if TJ was not injured last year. We have greater depth, and if the line stays healthy our run D should improve drastically. Middle and secondary are still the question, but on paper this is the most excited I have felt in years.

Something we will can agree on!! :drinks:

This second lap around the track for Pickett and this new generation of Steelers Players must be as smooth as possible. No unnecessary "bumps" along the way.

For some reason your post reminded me of injuries (a bump but unavoidable) and how they play a huge role in the NFL. I'm sure you have heard of Cal Ripken and his amazing streak. Wondering if you know of any NFL player who never missed a game?? I just can't see that being possible except for maybe a kicker.

Mike Webster came pretty close. He started 150 straight games until injury sidelined him for game # 151. Considering there were only 14 games in a season for several of those years he went about 10 years without missing a start. That's pretty amazing.

Jim Marshall had never missing a game in his 20 years career(1960-1979) who played until the age of 42!...282 regular season games overall

Slow your roll there. Joey is a 2nd round draft pick, so it is not like we are Talking about the second coming of Artie Burns here.

Give the 2nd rounder time to develop and learn the NFL system.

All the NFL scouts out there said, "He is good, but he is not day 1 Good." :)

No disrespect to Mike, and playing the same brutal position kudos to both, but Jim Otto played 15 years and 210 consecutive games for the Raiders. 00..hated those guys, but damn sure respected his game.

Then you see this. Sometimes its fun to follow the links. Otto's granddaughter is just a tough as her Grandpa.

    Hmm..

Not too many coming to mind. As you said, Adam Vinny maybe. Jackie Slater initially but his record is for most seasons played on one team; not of consistent games played.

Regarding the JPJ signing though; that wraps up all draft members from 2023. All that remains is to see if the picks pan out towards being a success.

Here are the top 5 consecutive games played in the NFL.
    Brett Favre - 297
    Jim Marshall - 270
    Bill Romanowski - 243
    Mick Tingelhoff - 240
    Philip Rivers - 240
For kickers/punters the record is 352 by punter Jeff Feagles.
