He does draw a lot of flags, and he does struggle against top-top tier WR's.

I feel he will be a really strong #2 like a Bryant McFadden.

I’m very concerned about that as well after watching a few games.

i'm seeing a guy that's pretty good, don't get me wrong but he's never in a good position for picks, but always in the hip pocket and sort of grabby to knock the ball away. i think a lot of those will get called in this league. are you seeing that too?

I’ve seen him get grabby when it’s not necessary. I agree he’s pretty good. I’m not yet sold on him being mid first round good.

There are alot of players I’d rather see the Steelers draft than Joey Porter, Jr., but knowing the relationship that Tomlin has with Joey Sr. and the fact that he watched Jr. grow up, I think he’ll take him if he’s there at 17. Tomlin values those close family ties, at times to the detriment of rational thinking.

Based on everything I've seen and read, it is not irrational thinking to take Porter at 17.

You can make that case and Porter is certainly a good player, but there’s really no wow factor about him that would make him an exciting pick at 17. He had some inconsistencies in college which are concerning and I would have liked to have seen a few more picks. He’s got good size and a long wingspan so physically he fits the bill. If he is the pick, I hope he can come in and have the kind of impact his dad had, but I will be wondering if the real motivation for the pick is the long-standing relationship between Tomlin and the Porter family.

I won't be wondering that at all. It could be that Tomlin has more of a comfort level with a player he has known since he was six years old. That is a more likely factor in his favor.

I had a problem with the lack of big plays in college by Edmunds because safeties need to make splash plays. I don't care nearly as much about interceptions from cornerbacks. I've seen way too many bad corners who get interceptions because they are picked on so much, but they don't stop opposing receivers nearly enough.

I don't want Porter at 17. And I don't want any cb at 17 if we sign Cam Sutton. But if he's there and we don't take him, ill be shocked. I really just hope we don't trade up for him.

They need another cornerback even if they keep Sutton. The rookie could start as a third cornerback, then eventually push Wallace into a slot role.

We do need more cb help. I just feel like DL and ILB are bigger needs.

Also, I get the feeling we won't be going too crazy with big contracts on defense in free agency, just because we've allocated a lot of cap space that side of the ball already. I hope I'm wrong on that though.

I know.......i think you've mentioned it just once or twice....along with your hatred of rap and your love of Mastodon. :roflmao:

So are you ok with Leal and Loudermilk as our starters on the line? How about Myles Jack and Mark Robinson as our penciled in starters on the ILB?

How would you propose we fix that?

We heard some of this nonsense last year Tomlin is going to draft Skyy Moore because he went to school with his son, it seems they were all in on Pickens as their WR pick.

That's why all the first four of the picks should be Defense. That's all cheaper money wise talent added to the D then.

I would throw in Witherspoon and Branch, the second especially if we resign Cam.

We wont start both Leal and Loudermilk. I am fine with Leal as a starter. He showed enough promise during his time as a rookie to think he's ready to contribute this year. TBH we can just re-sign Ogunjobi (who played great for us last season) and not even need to address DL at all. We can sign a cheap veteran DT or take a 3rd 4th rounder and roll with Heyward - Ogunjobi - Leal - Adams - Loudermilk - FA/mid round draft pick

LB I agree with though. I would sign Ogunjobi and go CB then ILB. We need to get some talent back at the ILB position. Jack is here for one more year at best and while Robinson showed some promise, I would hate to HAVE to count on him for next year.

We can go OL/DL/WR at 49, rd 3, rd 4 (in no particular order)

Pats will take Witherspoon at 14, I believe. He's exactly what they look for.

Leal COULD be great for us. There's just not enough of a sample size yet. Loudermilk took a bit step back. If we bring back Larry O AND Cam Sutton, that would be amazing. But it would also be very expensive. And we're already the most expensive defense in football. I'll be very surprised if we bring both guys back.
