A.Moats indicated that Minkah had inside leverage at 10 yards on that TD and that VW should have should have played “heavier” on the out route/fade to Boykin.

Read the previous threads and you’ll realize We we’re discussing. Avery Williamson ....... somehow I typed just Williams and not Williamson but still if you’d read the threads you’d know that.

Steelers are the big winners of the Trade Deadline, according to most website.

I honestly did not think they would ever be a Big winner at the NFL trade deadline. First the Minka trade last year involving a #1 pick and now the Avery move.

Definitely not Business as usual for Tomlin and Colbert.

When he asked for his release Chicago had DL injuries. I think he thought he had an opportunity and it went poof.

No I don't believe I have been overboard. The numbers are the numbers. He's a backup on many teams with his production. Never a forced fumble in his career. Very few passes defended. Tackle numbers are not very good for a linebacker. Where am I overboard? Let's add the money we pay him to perform in these area. Pretty good is paid awfully good.

He is tied (with TJ) for the league lead in tackles for loss. VW is great behind the line of scrimmage on run plays and rushing the QB up the middle. He is not great in coverage but honestly is not that bad either. I don't think any of our LBers stop that TD in the last game. It was a great pass that barely eluded VW's swipe.

So if Vince doesn't have tackles for loss then the run defense goes from the best in the league to the worst? That seems to be an argument for VW.

I'm with Mac on this one. All week long Tunch and Wolf, Uhler and Moats and Lolley and whoever were talking up VWill. It was how great he is playing, how smart he is, how much film he watches and he just diagnosed plays so quick. I was like are we talking about the same VWill here. On Sunday I saw the same things from him that I saw in his rookie season and since. When its straightforward play he is a thumper that brings it. His sacks aren't beating guys with techniques or power, they are everyone is locked up with someone and he is a heatseeking missile. He gets home on them I give him credit on those I do. However he still jumps the first gap he sees when its a run, Ravens sell run hard in one direction and then Edwards makes one cut and he is 2nd level because Vince guessed instead of staying fluid. The TD scored by Edwards, Vince was 4 feet behind the goalie caught in no man's land looking at Lamar. Spillane makes the hit on Edwards and tries to stop his forward momentum and is rewarded with a classic VWill hit to his back because Vince destroys when he doesn't know the play. Did the same thing to Timmons on the goal line his rookie season again vs the Ravens. His mantra is if I make a big enough hit they won't notice I was out of position.

He isn't the worst ilb but like Mac says he is average. Glad when he thumps just wish he thought more.

Ravens probably game planned for Williams in their running game. Does he get any fistbumps for Spillane making the most of it?

The Steelers were also operating without their best running-stopping safety in Hilton, which goes into the Ravens' planning. There were plenty of factors but VW has been solid.

One interesting aspect I found out about Vince Williams. His Cap Hit next season is $7 million via Sportrac. Given the fact that no one will know if the NFL Salary Cap will increase, I can imagine, but not enjoy, the likelihood of Vince being a cap casualty.

Seems to me that Avery Williamson is more of a future proof trade than just mere depth.

Vince could be cut & resigned. I won't say he is gone yet.

Has anyone seen an update on Avery's Covid-19 status? Was he cleared to travel with the team?

I know he dressed for the Dallas game but wasn't allowed to play only in case of emergency. Can he play today?

Spillane has done a great job AND the trade was very good. Depth needed and filled , Avery is solid. Seems to have rebounded well from his injury.
