Isn't he on Houston's PS? He would be a better option than Poe, but that's not saying much.

He really has become useless. All he did yesterday was kill a drive by dropping what should have been an easy completion.

Williams is a rent a player..... we gave up a fifth rd pick for a guy a ILB who is good vs the run but suspect vs the pass. Seems like old habits die hard. Not a horrible move though since we have two working ILB. We need the depth!

Make no mistake, he’s a backup, an expensive backup, but a needed one.

Question is next year??? Cap goes down and Vince can be a cap casualty. Bush returns and Spillane replaces Vince as Starter, with UG3 and Williams as backups.

Next offseason just might be crazy!!!

Im assuming you’re referring to Farrior..... Williams will never be equal to Farrior.

As soon as Williamson is up to speed he will be starting and Spillane will resume backup duties.

I think you're probably right, but if Spillane keeps making plays it's going to be hard to take him off the field.

Like I said...… you never know...… Let's face it.. we didn't know farrior would be farrior when he came to us.... only difference is that Farrior was an olb that converted to the inside and Williamson is coming in as an ilb already

Farrior was not only a 1st td draft pick but the #8 Overall pick..... Williamson was drafted in the 5th.... over 140 picks later...
Farrior was an ILB but the stupid jets were playing him at OLB but the Steelers moved him back to his natural position.

Why do you think this ???? Spillane is not only carrying the green dot calling the defense but he’s making enough plays to cement his position on the team!!! Williamson offers nothing over Spillane which is why he’s here for depth purposes.

Because the Steelers didn’t trade for the Jets best defensive player and starter to backup a player with no experience that was a backup himself just 2 weeks ago until an injury forced him into the lineup. Williamson is a better player, I seriously doubt he will be backing up Spillane. Steelers also sought to acquire Willamson when they lost Shazier.

Okay, I see your reasoning but disagree. I know we lost Shazier in 17’ and signed Bostic in 18’..... Avery was also a FA in 18 and signed a good contract with the jets, probably better than the Steelers offered.... The jets are just jettisoning cap hits that they won’t resign next year and trying to get some value.......

Avery might take some snaps from Williams but not the defensive QB....

His coverage on the Boykin TD was pretty good for a LB. It took a quick, well-thrown pass to get by him. Sometimes the other guys make plays. I don’t think VW is a special player by any means, but you have always been overboard on your criticism of him.

I agree VW coverage on that TD was pretty darn good and took a really good pass to make it BUT it wasn’t good enough in the end.

That doesn’t worry me because that’s not his strength and shouldn’t be on a WR to begin with. My issue is why did the Ravens run on us like we were a JV team, and this is supposed to be his strength.

    James Farrior
I was just going to post how we struck gold with that LB from the Jets. If AW is half as good we struck gold again. It's possible.

IIRC his name was bandied about by some draft gurus here as a possible midround Steeler pick. : Round 5, Pick 11, Overall Pick 151 by Titans. But the Steelers had already drafted Shazier to replace Farrior.

Anyway consensus of media talking heads is this was a good move. Sounds right to me. Why not?

Lmao no...Farrior was a borderline HOF'er! Vince isn't even in his league! I don't think anybody thinks that!

Did not he leave our PS voluntarily for 'better' opportunities. IDK why he would go from one PS to another unless he was going to signed to an active roster.

It was a good move in that it really cost us nothing. A 5th in 2022 will not mean much if we get a couple of compensatory picks from all the FA's we will likely lose next year. He is not going to set the world in fire, but has experience which is something we do not have at that position.
