Had posted this already in the Spillane thread. I still do not get why not Jarrad Davis but it is irrelevant at this point. Ulysees Gilbert III though is likely not coming back if this is the case.

 

I hope Cam Sutton is not involved in this trade. Would be foolish to cut off our nose to spite our face.

I see he sat out last year and has struggled on a horrible team with what might be the worst NFL coach ever. Is he salvageable?

Late Day Pick 3 likely. No reason to trade away the future in Sutton like that.

 

I hope this is the case. I think Williamson is worth a day 3 pick. Should be an upgrade in terms of depth.

 

Looks like our 5th for their 7th and Williamson.

 

Trading Sutton accomplishes nothing if they do. For that matter, book Corner is the number one priority for the team is that is the case. Doubt he is gone.

 

Just reported it's a trade for our 22' 5th and 7th round picks.

Correction we swap 5th and 7th round picks plus get Williamson. Sounds like a good deal for the Steelers.

Yes, per SteelersDepot. It's even better. Steelers 5th for Williamson and Jets 7th. I read it wrong the first time.

Either way, cheap depth. I am more worried about what this means for UG3. Might be the end of the season via IR for him but I hope not.

 

I don't get this.

Spillane is filling in nicely and Highsmith looked like he's coming along great as well.

I think the key is Spillane has the green dot and knows the defense.

No way this kid comes in and starts seeing significant reps in his spot right?

EDIT: Looks like Gilbert III's back might be a little more long term and the story I read says they only have 2 ILB's in Vince and Spillane.

Highsmith is listed as an OLB.

 

I hope not. I feel like Spillane has earned his spot.

Avery has just landed in Football Heaven. I can not imagine how he fells about this. Escaping from the Jets is about the greatest thing that could happen to him; contract year or otherwise.

Has to be a shot of adrenaline to be sure. From some quick reading, he looks like a good run stuffer and a pretty responsible, smart player.

 

He has an INT on the year as well. I need to do some more tape study of him as I do not have too much info on him outside the fact he is coming off of an ACL injury from last season.

 

Read where he had the dot at times with the Titans. I like that the guy has a lot of experience inside. I don't see this as an indictment on Robert Spillane at all. I think a deal for an ILB'er has been in the works since Bush went down regardless of how well Robert played. Need the depth.
