It does appear something is missing.

After his comments last year and these it really doesn't sound as though he wants to be here.

Not sure where the OP link is from, but it must have taken an excerpt from this original article from yesterday's Tribune. http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/7522933-74/worilds-steelers-percent#axzz3OMD0uqtJ

“It was more straightforward last year,” Worilds said. “I took on extra responsibilities, and that was an honor because it shows you what the coaches think about you. Sometimes they really don't think that highly of you.”

From this, it sounds much more positive.

Whatever he meant I really don't think for the money he is doing a great job. Some will argue its how DL uses him in schemes and I have been know to repeat the same rhetoric

He does not seem to have the same impact we are accustomed to at olb.

Our problem will be who can fill that roll if Woirlds is not a Steeler

well at about 4.5 million dollars plus, you can get two guys compared to what we paid him for an average year. I'm also not buying into all the coverage crap. he was not good against the run and really didn't do very well in coverage. for that type of money we should have gotten more. trust me, I'm not saying he was terrible overall just not near what we need for that amount of cash and cap hit.

I agree - he was not good against the run. If you watch the tape, he was not good at sealing the edge. He got pushed inside and let the RB turn the corner a lot.

Regardless of how he was used, he didn't seem to sniff what he pulled off in 1/2 a season last year and got paid richly to do as such. After much thought on it, I don't really like his attitude never have... He can go. He *****ed about not getting his shot for a while... However he was giving plenty and like a chandelier he fell from a ceiling and crashed the opportunity. He couldn't own a thing against a LT but a switch to the right last year paid off. He got a full season at that same spot this year and really didn't impress me at all. Like I said yesterday, he'd have to take a waaaaaaaaay friendly contract to stay and then I'd buy into his being here. I think he's another LBer we whiffed on in my opinion.

at this point I kinda hope the staff was putting him in coverage so much just to pay him back for the stuff he said to the media. I know they aren't like that but Jason I really honestly believe that Karma will take care of things and look at that you whine about playing time and then you get some and low and behold you explain your heap of suck on being asked to do more. Now take you 5.6 mill that I'm sure the raiders are going to offer you or the Pats and get to stepping. Don't the the door hit you where... well you know the rest.

He has moments where he showed his worth but not real money worth compared to what he was paid. I don't know crap about contracts and negotiations with players but if we are able to find someone to replace Woirlds without having to get killed on financials then we need to do so immediately. Yes we need to fill that gap and there is not alot of depth on this team for OLB . Do we really want to pay someone like Woirlds a boat load of money because we lack depth?

Don't forget it was him who missed his assignment and let the rookie TE that had him flustered so much he took a swing at him, go free for an easy TD!

Agreed, teams all year ran mostly on Worilds side when Harrison was on the right side side. Worilds did get beat with the run on the outside of him many times.

the trouble is, that's been kevin colberts MO in the past. throw money at an underperforming guy because we have no replacement and he panics. max, gilbert, colon, cortez, foote, dwyer, redman, scott, and then we have the retreads we bring back because of no replacement in place like will allen, clark, ike, foote, McFadden, harrison, keisel and probably can include batch and leftwich. I'm not saying all these were terrible moves but there is a pattern of money/bandaid fixes over the years and the next season we are back in the same predicament.
