It will be interesting to see if he drops out of the top 5 because of this.

You guys questioning if he will drop in the draft, are you kidding? The guy is done, there is an arrest warrant out on him. A man is dead because of his actions.

Henry Ruggs career ended for something similar to this as well.

Unless there is a part of this story Im not aware about, his NFL career has ended before it began.

Ruggs was driving drunk and hit another car at over 100 MPH. He killed a person in the car that he hit. We probably don’t know the facts of the Carter case yet, but the initial reports are that he was not drunk and the car he was driving was not part of the crash. If those things are true, then his situation is very different from Ruggs’ situation. Still utterly stupid, irresponsible and criminal, but not manslaughter.

He'll be drafted in the top 5. It's just the way things go today

He was (allegedly) driving a completely separate car, but racing the car that crashed and caused 2 fatalities. He left the scene then returned (according to alleged reports) to tell the cops he saw what happened but denied racing them. Turns out there is video surveillance (red light cams or something) showing his car and the car that crashed racing each other. But the cops saw no signs of Jalen drinking, and he for sure wasn't driving the car that crashed (nor did he cause it to crash).

I thought I read that he was one of the drivers racing and his blood alcohol was double limit. If thats true, he’s screwed.

Even if he wasn’t drunk, if he was racing and someone died as a result, hes still screwed. He’ll be an accessory to manslaughter.

Edit: I hadn’t read the link attached to this because I heard about this already. Thats crazy he is only being charged with reckless driving. His actions contributed to the death of two people.

Slap on the wrist. He'll pay a fine and be done with it. He'll still be drafted in the top 5. What he did ranks about #32,392 in terms of severity of NFL player crimes.

The teammate was in the other car, which was being driven by the woman who was also killed.

He wasn't driving the car in which people were killed. He didn't crash at all. He did leave the scene, then returned and lied to the police. He told them he wasn't racing, but the video proves otherwise. I'm still not so sure that his career is over.

Hell, I saw a mock draft yesterday that took the incident into account and they had the Steelers taking him at No. 17. Then again, that same idiot had the Colts trading up to take Richardson No. 1 and Kancey going fifth overall.

His actions contributed to two people dying. If he wasn’t racing them they’d be alive, he’s complicit in their deaths but according the charges he received it appears he will get a slap on the wrist because he is a football star.

I always figured his status as a football star into my assumptions about the potential outcome. Even though Georgia can't help him and he isn't in the NFL yet, I'm sure he won't have any problem getting expensive legal representation, which is going to make all the difference here.

Perhaps there is more, but from what I can glean, he and another teammate were high speed reckless racing with their cars after their championship win. The other car got in an accident and the 2 passengers died.

Now Carter who participated in the racing ( but in a different car) left the scene before the officers told him he could leave.

Now if that's it + he then lied by ommission at meetings by not fessing up to being a part of the reckless racing and the likelihood that there's a police investigation ongoing.

If that's all there is to it, then his draft shouldn't be affected.much if at all.

Unless he caused the accident and he actually has a felony I don't see howthis messes with his draft.

It's a tragedy that 2 people died. But If he wasn't driving that car, nor caused the accident that killed them directly, then I don't see the issue.

There is a tragedy here but it shouldn't be conflated with fault if none exist.

But let's see what the police report says.

This is silly. His actions were poor, but unless his speeding directly contributed to the accident, he has no fault. The other driver who was racing and got in an accident had the freewill to not race or slowdown. To suggest he contributed is stretching it. His action was reckless. But so was the action of the victim ( at least the driver). So long as he didn't push em into an accident directly, then No he did not contribute to their death. No more than a race car driver who wasn't a part of a pile up bring deemed to have contributed to the pile up because he was in the race. He has to have directly created the danger that caused the accident. If it's a case of the other driver recklessly taking a risk to try to catch him racing or to stay ahead of him, then that's on that driver.

The real question here is whether he directly played a role in their accident or not. If he didn't, then he is NOT at fault.

The report I read wasn't a lie of omission. He supposedly denied that he was racing.

Whats silly is absolving a guy that was part of the race. If he didn’t partake, there would be no race and there wouldn’t be two dead people.

They are very lucky this wasn’t worse, they were changing into lanes with oncoming traffic driving in excess of 100mph. It’s absolutely absurd to say his actions didn’t contribute to the other car crashing. Who do you think the LeCroy was trying to beat in the race???

If there were 10 cars racing and 1 crashed and someone died, would you charge everyone in the other 9 cars with contributing to the death?

I did not absolve him. You on the other hand seem to want to conflate involvement in the race with causing the accident. I disagree.
Yes, he could have died too. They could have killed other drivers and pedestrians. It was highly irresponsible. But participation in the drag racing automatically constitutes "contributing to the deaths?" No!

His actions were irresponsible, yes! But whether it contributed to the other car getting into an accident is a different matter entirely.

Kids drag racing, is irresponsible. And some in my neighborhood here do it still. And I raced a time or 2 myself when I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s. I'm not gonna now play holier than thou. The accident was a tragedy, but unless he contributed to the accident directly, he did not contribute to their death.

I never said he caused the accident but he definitely contributed to it by racing her. Also, are we really to believe he wasn’t drinking and if he wasn’t that doesn’t paint him in positive light either. That would mean he, a completely sober person not only let his friend drive drunk but raced her.

Not saying he deserves to be in prison for the rest of his life but he deserves more than a slap on the wrist. Im sure the family members of the deceased feel great about that.

LeCroy was driving over 100 MPH with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. I sympathize with her loved ones for their loss, but have a hard time seeing how the finger can be pointed anywhere but at LeCroy herself.

Would be bad enough if he just let her drive drunk, he decided it was a good idea to race a girl that was wasted.

    He’s not blameless.

I can feel your anger through theses posts. I feel the same way. I was really upset when they signed Vick. This is people dying. One can assume he was probably drunk when he did this but there's no proof he was. His racing this other car did contribute to the crash. Blast I know you hate how this is going to turn out as do I? But he will go number 1 in the draft and there's nothing anyone can do. I try not to think of him at all. It hurts my heart that he will be a multi millionaire in a couple months and those two folks will still be dead. I hate it but that's what we're left with. I'm sorry for those folks that died. I really am. Not trying to pick a fight with you at all. I just wanted you too know that I understand how you feel.
