Tomlin motioned that he thought the 49ers were going to throw. They did and scored a touchdown. Worse yet, the TE was wide open. Now if the coach believes it to be a throw, shouldn't somebody have the responsibility to stay back to cover?

I know the play you're talking about...before the snap it showed Tomlin on the sideline motioning that its going to be a pass. But with the way they pulled it out the D got fooled...simple as that.

What the H*** ?? How does this demonstrate Tomlin is too hands off ? Last I checked DL is the defensive coordinator and if the D wasn't ready that's on him. Oh that's right his name isn't Arians or Tomlin so I guess that concept doesn't apply. Unbelievable the stuff I'm reading on here today

You missed my point. I'm not calling for his head. I'm just wondering if he is actually communicating or not. If he believed it to be a pass, shouldn't the defensive play call be changed to take that into account? In this instance no one stayed back, so there is no evidence that what the head coach believed to be true was adapted on the field. So who then is he communicating with. Why did it seem as though his thoughts and words had about as much impact as mine when I'm screaming at the TV to kill the clock at the end of the half. Tomlin doesn't call the plays, Mike Mcarthy does. If Mcarthy thinks its a pass, does the D react to it?
