I saw this mentioned in a recent article by Mark Madden. I’m definitely not his biggest fan, but this stat he reported was alarming.

“Since the NFL-American Football League merger in 1970, 315 quarterbacks have thrown 500 or more passes. Just one has registered a touchdown on fewer than 2% of his attempts: Pickett at 1.9%.”

I don't think it will happen but it would be so funny if he has 3 TD pass vs Bengals and that the steelers have 400 offensive yards in a steelers victory with Canada now gone!

Damn, well it’s hard to blame that on the OC since Kenny is the one actually throwing the ball. That stat is some major evidence that KFP truly sucks.

Problem under Canada,it was so rare to see our QB complete a pass over 5 yards or past the yellow line for a first down,no matter who was the QB(Ben,Mitch,Kenny and even Rudolph in his lone start in 2021).It was so painful to watch

There is no human being alive who wants to see the Steelers get a 30-0 butt kicking loss at Cincinnati more than Matt Canada.

There is certainly evidence that KSP is not good but we will soon find out if part of that statistic was Oh Canada

That may be true, but there is nobody on the planet that is going to look any worse if the offense has a great game, controls the time of possession, has good situational play calling, and puts up around 30 and wins comfortably. People are probably going to make more of it than it really is either way.

In the end it's only one game, so it is only the start of the post-Canada era. Canada and Pickett are going to be judged by what happens in more of the long-term than one game.

The worse possible outcome for the Steelers is for Kenny to keep playing at the level he's at now. He doesn't turn the ball over which keeps them hanging around, winning ugly games and staggering to a 9-8 winning record every year. They either need him to pick his game up and become a competent NFL QB or completely fall off the cliff and start throwing picks all over the place and start losing every game by 3 TD's so they can cut bait with him. This just treading water, eking out ugly wins and playing around .500 ball puts them into a continuous loop of being slightly above average but nowhere near being a serious playoff team.

The coaching staff/Front Office need to make a decision on him this offseason. They either believe in him and give him a shot next year with a new OC (likely outcome) or they determine he probably isn't going to get much better and cut ties. We are winning games entirely through the defense playing great football and keeping us in games just long enough to win. When you give up less than 18 points a game for a stretch longer than a full NFL season (from the bye last season onwards), you should be winning a lot of games and likely blowing a few teams out. Instead we've balled out on defense to eke out low scoring wins. It isn't smoke and mirrors or that we don't deserve to win... its that the offense sucks and we are winning games in spite of them. We've seen a couple stretches of games where the running game has really gotten going, and it hasn't been enough to pull this team out of offensive purgatory. To me, that means its on the QB to pick his play up.

I am 100% on board with either a trade for Murray (if not too expensive asset-wise) or signing someone like Mayfield or Cousins (prefer Kirk, but Baker would be a good consolation prize). I think it INSTANTLY improves our offense and turns us into a contender. With the way the defense has been playing, we don't need a top 5 QB vust need a guy that can put 25 points a game on the board. If we do that, we will be difficult to beat.
