I don't know if they will, but it will be very stupid if they did....since it doesn't really seem 2 help the teams that do that.

All you have to do is play that backup QB a couple of extra games down the stretch and you will secure that franchise QB for the next 15 years.

Of course Cleveland did this and ended up with Baker Mayfield.

I am agreeing with you kind of as you don't always know what you will get.

Cleveland is accused of tanking the 2016 and 2017 season. For these two seasons they were able to draft Myles Garret and Baker Mayfield. One worked and one didn't.

See. If they were smart they could have had Watt at a way later pick. That's why I don't care if teams tank. Only the dumb ones do it.

Not going to pretend to know legality of this, but with legalized gambling becoming more prominent and the owners getting a % of those profits this investigation can and likely go places they do not want. Not that they are fixing games for profit, but knowingly throwing a game when millions have been wagered is yet another thing.

Legally possibly, but civilly? Can you imagine the lawsuits that would fly if this kind of stuff gains traction.

Actually it's not as clear cut as that. The sports bribery act could come into play here. The evidence would have to be there of course, but of funds were paid to throw a game it definitely can he prosecuted.

Probably more memory movie than fact; but I thought that was the whole Black-Socks scandal. After losing the world series a professional gambler that had lost a lot of money took the team to court.

I only know as much as you lmao. There were several articles when this story first broke and some legal professor's mentioned how that law could apply criminally and also the civil damages in a class action lawsuit could be massive. Is there enough evidence even if it did happen? That will be the issue.

Yes I'm very curious about the whole thing. I have looked into it the best I can, and I get mixed info on the whole legality issue of it....., but no matter what .....IMO....it should be wrong 2 tank.

If it comes down to just he said with no proof it's likely a hard sell. But all it takes is a stupid email or text to dive deeper. Only time will tell.

One of the worst kept secrets in Pittsburgh sports was the race to the worst NHL record of '84-'85 between the Pens and the Devils for the right to draft Mario Lemieux. Then GM Eddie Johnston denies it, but the proof is there. Calling up minor league players and scratching everyday players from the line-up. Sitting your #1 goalie. The Pens tanked. It worked out rather well.

BTW, the NHL has used a lottery draft system since 1995 to deter tanking. The lottery was how the Pens received the right to draft Sid.

A friend of mine years ago met a girl asked her for a date and went to pick her up at her house.

He knocked on the door and her dad answered. It was Bruno.

I believe You, but in the NFL I can't really think of who this has helped.

OMG! If it was me, my first thought would be "I'm going to die". Although I have heard many times that Bruno was, in reality a very gracious and humble gentleman.
