The number one CB dropped to them in the draft you take him, they could've got by with Moore and Jones at the tackle position.

By the way, I wanted a corner, Barton, or a trade back. This is my post from the draft thread.

You wanted Gonzalez? Did Cam Smith know that you were eyeing the hips of another cornerback that year?

we should be (CRYSTAL!) clear. Without Jones , we had NO RT LAST YEAR, how do you all think we got to the playoffs last season - with that great surge and running attack + Mason providing a spark. The defense was good enough, including our CB's. and our defense is VERY GOOD this year.

    There are always NEEDS.

CB was one, OLINE has been greater, for 2-3 years.

one other add / thought: CB is EASY - draft pick, plug and play.

offensive line is HARD. Very few are drafted, start and STAR. It takes grit, brains and time - outside of QB, it is the hardest position in the game to master and excel.

We neglected it for too long - both with blue chip draft pick and with poor coaching. We can HOPE we are on the right track. Half of you are done with Jones. That is very short sighted, in my opinion. and other think Troy is a bust because he will miss this season, that somehow we 'got the pick wrong' because he got injured.

this thinking is just pure nonsense.

I'm not arguing with the Jones pick. I wanted Gonzalez, but I was very happy with Jones. I don't think they got it wrong.

I'm less sold on this year's selection because there were injury questions about Fautanu before the draft and they could really use Mitchell right now. I understand that patience is important with offensive linemen. I get the logic behind the pick now, but I thought there was great value in trading down, taking the top corner, or taking the top center in the draft. Of course, they got lucky and had Frazier fall to them in the second round and made things look a hell of a lot better.

agreed. But RE Troy - just no idea that a quirky knee injury would / could happen. not in the 'cards'. everyone talks about trading down, but easier said than done - have to find the other side of that trade. not easy.

i would not say they were lucky that Frazier fell. most had him sitting there for us to pick. there were 2/3 C that we all liked, but I LOVE what we got!!!

I agree on that last part. I was bouncing off the walls happy when they took Frazier. I saw plenty of projections that had him long gone before the Steelers' pick, so you and I see that part differently. I think waiting on him to fall that far was a risk.

The point about Fautanu is that a knee injury supposedly had him falling later in the first round than many expected. The Steelers took a risk there, too, and the guy got hurt again.

I am not criticizing the Steelers for not trading down. I was just pointing out that Fautanu wasn't the guy I wanted them to take there, either.

It wasn't even a couple of weeks ago. He was doing it during the game against the Chargers. I hope Elliott is able to play. I do remember seeing him limping after a play early in the game, but he did keep playing.

That is funny. I assumed I was just being an old white guy when I saw Edmunds on the sidelines last weekend. :)

Seeing Deshon Elliott and Donte Jackson as FP is good news. Those two have had solid seasons so far.

Wonder which RB gets elevated from
The practice roster…. They’ll need someone.

Haven’t seen the Colts report yet, but they’ve already had two guys from their defense ruled out. DB Moore and DE Paye. Those are big loses.

I don't see any real surprises. I was hoping Seumalu would be back, but it looks like we will have to wait at least another week to see him. Missing Warren sucks, but they are 3-0 despite not getting much from him so far this season.

I agree with all of this, scribe. They really rolled the dice on Frazier still being there. As a WVU fan, I’m still shocked and thrilled he was available for them.

I absolutely loved the pick and the Peyton Wilson pick and really like all the others afterward, but I didn’t like the Fautanu pick.

Not to look past the Colts… but Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence are out for a couple of weeks.
    Wont be playing against Steelers.
