I am starting to feel like this team's chances of success this year have been crushed by the injury bug. We would have a 2 game swing on our record if Ben was playing. We would be probably 1 game better had Lefty played yesterday (anyone still questioning why Lefty over Batch?). We would be 1 game better if Brown played yesterday. Our RT position is a mess, with a 2nd year player going down followed by a 1st year tackle who is now replaced by a guy who is better suited to play guard. Of note, I don't think Beachum looked horrible yesterday despite getting thrown to the fire. Rainey is probably gone as is Adams. Our 1st and 3rd round picks haven't played at all due to injury, and might not ever play. Our best Offensive and Defensive players were both out yesterday, we turned the ball over 8 times and STILL only lost by 6.

Maybe I'm wrong, but right now, I have no positive outlook on this team. Sorry, its just how I feel.

just remember that the year the Packers beat the Steelers in the super bowl, the Packers were hit with major injuries to a ton of guys. the one difference being that Rogers stayed healthy. if Ben had stayed healthy this team would be sitting at 8-3 and fighting for home field advantage instead of holding on to the last wildcard spot for dear life.

I saw no evidence that Lefty could have done better. What was his record on 3rd down? Terrible.

the Steelers should get Ben, AB, Troy, Woodley and guys from the oline back. if they can hang on to a playoff they can make a run.

I get that. I must admit that right now...I'm struggling to see the positives.

You know we're desperate when we're clinging to superstition and magical wishes to get us healthy and into the playoffs.

Here's the question I've been trying to get answered. Do we need to get rid of the people who are responsible for strength and conditioning? Look at how many guys we have hurt. Do we not have guys that are responsible to make sure that we professionally condition? I was thinking teams did have someone like that. Am I wrong? I think Timmons is our most reliable guy as far as health goes.

I realize that the Packers got drilled last night by a rested Giants team, but they are still a very good and dangerous team especially if Rodgers is healthy which is what WE need...a healthy Ben back soon. I also remember a qoute that Rodgers gave the media after they "lost" against the Seahawks and the announcers mentioned it again last night. He said, after the Sehawks "loss"...outside of here (lockerroom) the sky is falling, inside of here (lockerroom) we are just fine! I hope that's the Steelers players feel the same as well. By the way, even after last night's drilling that the Packers took from the Giants, they are behind only the 49ers to win the Super Bowl from the NFC, according to Vegas! It's all because of Rodgers. We get Ben back with a couple of pieces (i.e., Brown, Troy(?), Adams, Decastro, etc) and I will like our chances even if we are the sixth seed!

Didn't Foster get hurt yesterday though? I was thinking for some reason he did. Maybe I'm just thinking about him because he got a penalty on him or something. Was it only Adams and Rainey that got hurt yesterday? When I mentioned Timmons I was saying more from a LB standpoint. It is true that Foote is dependable though. Ironically he is also like the same age as dirt as well. Why can't our younger guys just do what he does?

I am hoping that Ben does not play
Sunday and that we run the table the last
4 games and ride a hot streak into the playoffs.

Other than Troy and maybe Woodley's hamstring I don't see how you could hang the injuries on the conditioning coach.

I've been thinking about this "injury thing" with the Steelers for awhile now. Sometimes I think some of it comes down to how the Steelers play. We're not a "finesse" team. We hit people - hard. We get hit - hard. That style of play is going to lead to a higher number of injuries. On top of that, we've been hit with a real ton of bad luck. Think about it. Our Quarterback gets and injury that hasn't been seen since 1998 in a RUGBY game??! Then - our BACKUP quarterback breaks his ribs the next game?! What strength and conditioning coach can prevent broken ribs? Don't we have 3 guys out right now with rib injuries? I'm no personal trainer (and I shouldn't be), but I don't think there are any specific "rib-strengthening" exercises.
