I also posted leading up to the 2000 draft that they should take Tom Brady (if that board still had its history anywhere, I'd be an internet legend now, but alas...).

There have been times I've been right and the team has been wrong.

There have been times where we've both been right, and times where we've both been wrong.

The only argument I've ever heard in these debates that is bogus when someone uses it is "The team thinks the same way I do, so that makes me right". No it doesn't. The only thing that ever makes anyone right or wrong is the end result. That's it. So before that comes in, it's just opinion, on EVERYONE's part.

My OPINION is that I don't see enough of a chance that any of the quarterbacks in the 2022 class will ever be great enough to win a Super Bowl to warrant drafting one of them. But I'm not necessarily right. I certainly don't know that I'm right at this moment in time. But with the only things I have to go on right now, I wouldn't spend a pick on any of them. I also wouldn't take any of the current vet free agents, or invest in a trade for anyone other than Russell Wilson (which I've made clear elsewhere).

None of that makes me right at this moment in time. If things transpire down the road the way I've laid them out, maybe then I can say that. And if they don't, then I was wrong. But nobody knows either of those right now.

I agree with a lot of what you said. I am not sure I am confident enough in the current class to draft a QB but that doesnt make me right either. Am I reading your post correctly - you want to stay with Mason?

- My first step would be to explore a trade for Russell Wilson (and I've detailed why in the thread about him or 2023).
- Assuming that doesn't work, then I'd make ONLY a one year investment in whomever I could get to fill out the quarterback unit for 2022, and let them compete for the job for this season. That would not assume anything, regarding Rudy or anyone else in that unit. The guy who shows me the best chance to win gets the job.
- I would then evaluate everything BRAND NEW, just like this offseason, all over again going into 2023, whatever that means and wherever that would lead me then.

Once again, the above steps are predicated on my lack of belief in any of the rookie class or vet free agent quarterbacks of 2022. And if I'm wrong down the line, then I'm wrong. But that's my best decision with what I know now.

I’ve read so many articles where the so-called “experts” have the Steelers trading up to draft Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, Sam Howell, Matt Corral and about every other quarterback coming out this year. The guys making these predictions need to stop posing as draft experts because they’re failing miserably. The Steelers giving up draft capital to move up to draft one of these guys would be an absolutely stupid move! I agree with the article. Stay put, if your quarterback’s there at 20 take him but if not, take the best offensive lineman in a pretty deep class. I really don’t think Colbert wants to go out by making, what would be, the worst move in Steelers draft history by trading up to draft a quarterback.
