The Steelers can take a "David and Goliath" approach to this game. Its gotta hurt players pride to loose the way they did so they will be pissed!!! We have the talent, we're playing at home "fans gotta be loud" not in our house!!! from the first snap we gotta play good fundamental footbal with no turnovers, pound the rock with the two headed monster of bell and Williams. Take what the defense gives you and play 60 minutes. GO Steelers!!!!

I wonder if Brady has ever lost to a backup QB. Anyone know? Not that it can't be done, but history does have a way of repeating itself

The odds of us beating them aren't good

    I don't.
With Ben playing at the top of his game, we could've

Landry Jones is not capable of leading an offense to 30+ points

Our injury riddled defense is not capable of keeping the Pats from scoring 30+ points

But... Any given Sunday leaves a sliver of hope

That's the understatement of the year :lolol:

I mean, he may have lost to a backup before...but he will NOT lose to Landry Jones.

Odds are not good I agree but I'd really like to see the two lines redeem themselves.

As for Brady never loosing to a backup... pet peeve (and certainly not directed at you Shaner)... does anyone else hate it when the talking heads talk about QB1 squaring off against QB2? I'm probably just grumpy this morning between yesterday, the rain, and the specter of what was supposed to be a great (TEAM) matchup for my birthday next weekend! :grumble:

It's been a while if so. Last year they lost to the Jets led by Fitzpatrick. He was technically a backup I think.

I'm speaking from a total team concept here. Ok so you know what you have in a Quarterback you can't deny that it is what it is. but every player has to bring their a game and do their part. You know the Patriots want to make idiots of you in your house and smah you so at some point you have take step up and stop the bleeding. If Landry ever wants to have a fruitful career in the NFL he needs to s*** ot get off the porcelin. I think we pull this one out.

Based upon prior performance, I'd say that he's eaten everyone's cheese dip and is constipated now.

For whatever reason the Steelers are a different football team at home. Vegas favoring the Pats by 7 with Ben out. You won't see that often in a home game they play.

I'm an optimist and I'm retired Military and I've trained some of the most untrainable individuals who have went on to have good Military careers. So anythings possible if you belive. So I think ol' Landry surprises alot of people especially New England.

I think this game will say a lot about the character of this year's team. Win or lose.

The Steelers can beat the Patriots with Landry Jones at QB. But the defense needs to hit Brady multiple times and keep him under pressure. This might even lead to Brady throwing a pick, or two.

If the above can be accomplished, then all Landry Jones has to do is effectively manage the game. Likewise, the entire offense needs to protect the football.

Additionally, special teams must work to keep the Patriots driving a long field.

Other than that... Bell, Bell, and more Bell.

Gonna be tough. The Patriots defensive front 7 are ranked 11th in the league.

Steeler defensive front 7 are ranked 25th.

The Pats are gonna be able to run and throw on us.
The Steelers are going to have a lot of trouble running and throwing on them.

The Pats are going to have 8 men in the box because they expect the Steelers to run all day.
But i already talked about Landry hitting Hines Ward in space over the middle about 15 times during the game, but we got no Hines Ward, so try Hey Bey in the slot and let him run to daylight and dump it off to him if AB and Coates aren't open. Use play action all day.

Bell, Bell, and more Bell, is exactly why the Pats are going to have 8 men in the box, and dare Landry to beat them.
AB is going to be doubled, and they know about Coates deep, so Landry is going to have to use the deep middle of the field, it should be wide open, and a slot receiver should be able to get about 15 catches. Keep the TE in to block for Landry, and hit the slants and crossing routes to the slot guy.
At most you will get a safety on single coverage against your slot guy, but a big guy like Hey Bey can deal with it.
Use play action to freeze the LB's too.

I`ll at least watch the beginning of the game. If it looks like our defense is playing inspired football and our offensive line gives Jones plenty of time, that would be a start of having a chance.

If you see pressure on Jones, it`s over right then and there. We have to dominate at the lines on both sides just to have a chance.

Back in the "undefeated" season of 2007, Brady and the Pats ALMOST lost to AJ Feeley-led Eagles team. I know, "almost" only counts in horse shoes, but it's worth noting:

Play ball control offense and keep Brady off the field. I don't know if the Steelers will win this game but I do think it will be a lot closer then some people might think. I don't see the Pats just walking into Heinz Field and blowing the Steelers out. The Steelers will be pissed a lot from what happened last week and will use that anger a lot I believe through the course of the game.
