It's not political at all. It's a fair question.

What's new? Half the fans skip the first quarter and fourth for most games already.

jerry jones is telling his team not to do it tonight. the Sunday night game and the late games were down 8% in viewers i heard on the news. jerry knows this will hurt the bottom line for the NFL. when companies start seeing very expensive commercials are dropping in viewership, don't think they won't react. i know i haven't watched ESPN since they didn't fire the one host for comments.

This. I think all fans should get together and not go to their seats until after the kickoff. Wouldn't that look good to sponsors, an empty stadium?

When the national anthem is played, I will standing at my seat. I believe that is where I should be. Hat off. Hand over my heart. If others don't want to be there, I support their right.

I've looked at CL and most of the major ticket sites and there doesn't seem to be a spike in tickets for sale.

I've followed sports for 50 yrs. I've heard of many fan plans to stage boycotts or protests, threats to walk out early, show up late or not show up at all. All designed to teach the team or league a lesson for various offenses like cutting/trading a popular player, signing a guy like Micheal Vick, being cheap and not wanting to win enough or to demonstrate displeasure for heavy handed disciplinary action. All of the planned fan actions were essentially complete failures. They are unorganized, probably unorganizable. People like to vent, but are loathe to act, particularly if they have to sacrifice something (like attending a beloved sporting event) for tangible return. Some folks may not show up for a week or two. If the protests last a long time it might have a more lasting effect.

But I gotta believe the owners and the vast majority of players want a way out of this. There's no precentage for them to piss off the paying public forever. And very few believe in their cause that much or even much at all. Hell, even a unemployed Colin Kapernick made it known to potential employers that he'd be willing to stand for the anthem if signed. There will be peace (or truce) in our time.

So if the Steelers are playing on MNF on ESPN you aren't going to watch the game?

I think it was a one time thing for the Steelers, it won't affect tickets much.

How would we even tell if attendance is down? Half the seats are empty anyways.

Well I can tell because I was eyeing tickets for a game in a few weeks and I checked today and there was definitely a lot more tickets for sale. I'd say maybe 1-2k more.

No, he doesn't. Let's steer clear of Trump discussions, please.

Mac, you can PM if you want to elaborate further on that.

    So let's be honest now:

How many of you complainers while the Anthem is playing stand at attention, hat off, hand over your heart while your sitting in front of your TV? Or, while your in the Sports Bar?

Hmmmm. Yea, I know the answer....Understanding or not standing for racial and social justice is part of the 1st amendment. It's hard to understand when your of the Caucasian persuasion.

So if you're like me and not part of the Caucasian persuasion but think this a disrespectful way to stand for social justice, then what? The national anthem and the flag has nothing to do with race. It's just the wrong platform to protest. Your 1st amendment protects your right to protest from federal prosecution, it does not protect you from social retaliation or employer discipline. If I went to Denny's and my waiter started lecturing me on politics, do you think his/her boss would be cool with that?
