I think this is a case of you reading far too much into the situation. I am not saying you meant this, but the subtext of your point is that MT is turning the Steelers into an all black team (consciously or unconscious) because that is what he is comfortable with. Frankly, I think this is way off base. First, MT definitely does not have total control of player decisions. An old white guy named Colbert has as much or more say who is drafted then MT. That being the case I don't think the insertion about that race of our resent draft picks holds water.
As for the Steelers recent trend of hiring black coaches, again I think you are missing the true cause. First off, I am sure that all these hiring were done with input for the all of the Steelers management, particularly Colbert and Art Rooney. I think what you are missing is the changing makeup of young coaches in the NFL. The majority of coaches in the NFL are former players and for more than 30 years now black athletes made up the majority of NFL players. Plus, with a number of NFL program setup to encourage ex-plays to be coaches, it only stands to reason the the majority of young coaches are going to be black. This is why you are seeing such a high percentage of new position coach being black. This is a trend across the NFL, not just with the Steelers.
So, I think the coaches we have hired and players we have drafted reflect who the Steelers as an organization believe best fit their needs. Does Tomlin have input, of course, but these decisions reflect the Steelers collective views more than Tomlin individual desires. If any other then the Steelers best interest (consciously or unconscious) was used I guarantee you Art Rooney would have long ago made changes
