So much back and forth on this board about the HC and the staff. So, I have a question for both lovers and haters: How many more years of missing the Super Bowl before you finally agree that a change is needed? For me, its already past the time. How about you? 1. 3, 10? There has to be some expectation I would think.

While I do believe the time has come to move on from Tomlin, until the Steelers get some quality db's, we will always be a any given Sunday team.

The Steelers have had plenty of opportunities to draft successful db's. It's another facet that's not working under Tomlin.

We really are a spoiled rotten fan base. The Cowboys haven't won a SB in 22 years, the 49ers: 23 years, the Bears: 32 years, the Dolphins: who remembers, same with the Raiders. With the impatience of this fan base, if the new guy doesn't produce immediately, he'll be run out of town like a common pygmy!

True but you need to realize franchise QBs don't grow on trees and you have to take advantage of it when you have one. I can't predict the future but I'm more than willing to bet on any other team Tomlin would field an average to below average team. His mistakes would be further exposed on lesser teams.

Perhaps but, running with your theory, the Chokers have had 2 franchise qbs in Fouts and Rivers (3, but they threw Brees away) and they're NEVER going to win a SB.
The Browns had Sipe and Kosar
    Dolphins had Marino
    Bills had Kelly
    etc.
    etc.

I said it in other posts but the last team that had a top QB the best RB and the best WR at the same time was Dallas in the early 90's.
They won 3 super bowls in 4 years and lost the conference game in year 3 of their run.

What did Tomlin do with Ben, Bell and Brown.

We might seem spoiled but its frustrating when you see the offensive talent that we have had in recent years. Even without Bell Conner filled in nicely and JUJU has to be one of best up and coming WR's in the league. All those weapons and a very very good offensive line how has this team missed out or hanging on by their teeth hoping for help from the Browns.

Noll coached 12 years after his last SB appearance. Cowher went ten years between appearances. Tomlin is at eight years and counting, without an "immaculate" series of events happening this year. I do not believe Tomlin will go beyond Cowher's 15-year tenure, if he isn't in a Super Bowl in the next three years.

Was bell available to them during those playoff games? Did the cowboys of the early 90’s have an outstanding defense to compliment Aikmen,Smith, and Irvin? Are you really suggesting all it takes to win a Super Bowl is a good offense?

I get the desire to fire Tomin. I don't totally agree with it, but I get it.

But Stiller fans assume that because they haven't messed up on a HC hire in 50 yrs, that it can't happen. Probably half the HC hires in the NFL are flat out failures, 90% of the hires won't be as successful as Tomlin.
I laugh at all the retrospective praise of Cowher, his home AFCCG loses were proof positive of his incompetence. He's a much better coach today than he was thought of at the time.

Someday, this team will hire a Rex Ryan or a Todd Bowles, and will reminisce fondly of the good ol days of Coach T.

Rex Ryan took Mark Sanchez to two AFCCG that's quite a accomplishment and they came a 3rd down conversion we made against them away from beating us. And a missed FG if I remember . The QB in today's game is the biggest factor in a teams success. Not so much the HC and if you get a marriage like up in NE. You really have a advantage. There is a time for every coach to go. The Giants ran Coughlin out of town and he has 2 SBs against NE no less. The team we on,y manage to beat every 10 years. Before you point to Coughlins age as the reason ,don't. They were saying he was still the first to arrive and the last to leave. His willingness and want to were still top notch.
There comes a time when the message just gets old. It's getting to that point. He deserves 1 more year and that's it.

Wow, part of me thinks a large part of Steleler Nation needs to watch a world class buffoon like Rex Ryan to coach this team for a couple of years to get some realistic perspective. I'd love to see the reaction on this board, - year or two after MT is replaced by a mega clown.

Replace Tomlin, if you want. Maybe the message is old. But choose the replacement carefully, there probably a 90% change the next guy will be worse. There's a 50%, the replacement will be an abject failure.

The only time Bell stayed healthy for the playoffs was in 2017, and that was 1 game .

Execution is holding us back more than any of the slacker coaches.
If these players were disciplined more than likely we'd be talking about what players we should be resting this week.

I've never been real crazy about Tomlin, but I've been far from a hater and have mostly supported him. I think it's time to move on though. JMO

Yeah but could that be because Tomlin refuses to spell his starting RB's and instead runs them into the ground. Connor barely lasted half a season. Bell had a ton of touches every year, so it's not shocking that his body broke down as the year went on.

    Devils Advocate argument:

Tomlin runs Bell into the ground, but he's gone now, who cares?
Connor fills in, goes to the Pro Bowl, maybe he gets used up , but Samuels comes in and rushes for
140 yds vs NE. Isn't it an example of Tomlin's coaching genius and understanding of today's game, that he doesn't waste time spelling an RB, and gets mad value by running him into the ground?

What kind of argument is that? There's no value is running your starting players into the ground. They are your starting players for a reason. And in case you haven't noticed, we weren't fine when Bell went down in the playoffs. We also weren't fine when Connor went down. Samuels has had 1 good game.

Samuels averaged 4.4 yards per carry in the Saints game. But, he only got 12 carries. Ridley had 3. I understand he needed to be spelled at times, but it would’ve been nice to see Samuels carry the ball instead Ridley those 3 times.

He also had a receiving TD. I’d still call it a good game, given the limited touches.

Not really, we'll reminisce of the days of Ben, and when he should have won SB after SB (or at least seriously contended), but couldn't because of the HC's inadequacies.
